You might have thought that the Oliver Drake era was over in Toronto, but you were wrong. The Blue Jays claimed the righty off of waivers from the Tampa Bay Rays. In a corresponding move, Mark Leiter Jr. has been designated for assignment.
It’s been a hell of a year for Drake. He started in Cleveland, got purchased by Milwaukee, then got claimed off waivers by Los Angeles, Toronto, Minnesota, Tampa Bay, and now Toronto again.
Look at all the goddamn air miles he’s picked up:

Drake made two appearances for the Jays before getting waived back in July. In one of them, he got shelled for three runs in an inning of work and in the other he tossed two-thirds of a scoreless inning. Both came against the White Sox.
For the season, Drake pitched 47 2/3 innings for five different teams, posting a 5.29 ERA while striking out 9.6 batters and walking 3.2 per nine.
I have a sneaking suspicion that the intrepid traveller Drake will end up being waived and claimed before the beginning of the season. Just a hunch!!!
