Things that were good:

• Marco Estrada made the first opening day start of his career, and put up a vintage Marco Estrada six innings of two rum ball start. He had a bit of a rough time over the first few innings, allowing some hard contact, including a few doubles in the third inning. But after that two-run third, Estrada settled down and completely mowed through the order, getting his final nine batters out before handing the ball over to ‘pen.
• The bottom of the order was a major spark for the Jays today, which is a great sign.
• Kevin Pillar chucked his bat into the stands twice today. It was either a very touching tribute to Edwin Encarnacion, or he just fucking hates Orioles fans. Either one is fine with me.
• Jose Bautista gunned Chris Davis out trying to leg out a double with an excellent play and throw from the right field wall. It’s been a long, long time since we’ve seen Hose Bautista. If his arm strength is back, that’s huge for his value in the field. 2017 Jose Bautista Revenge Tour, baby.

Things that weren’t good:

• The Jays defence looked like it, uhhh, wasn’t in mid-season form. Why the hell do they play a month-and-a-half of spring training anyway?! In the second inning, Welington Castillo hit a lazy fly ball to left-centre that fell between Zeke Carrera and Kevin Pillar. Thankfully Estrada, being a fucking stud, managed to strand him. But damn, yuck, get that shit sorted out, boys.
• The Jays lineup left 12 runners on base. Yiiiiiikes. Bautista, Martin, Tulo, and Morales combined for a massive goose egg in the middle of the order.
