At least they like to make it interesting!!! The Red Sox completed the sweep against the Blue Jays today with a 6-4 victory resulting in Toronto finishing with their worst May since 1981.

Things worth mentioning…

  • According to Gregor Chisholm, this is the worst winning percentage in a month since 1981. It’s also the fourth-worst in franchise history. So, yes, the month of May in 2018 has absolutely been as bad as it’s seemed.
  • Blue Jays No. 2 starter Sammy G had a bit of a rough start. He went six innings allowing four runs on seven hits. The brunt of Boston’s damage came via the home run as Eduardo Nunez hit a solo bomb and J.D. Martinez hit a two-run homer. Still, given how bad Toronto’s starters have been this season, six innings of four-run ball from Sammy G looks pretty fucking good.
  • The Jays had a rally in the top of the ninth inning and it almost sorta kinda looked like they were going to pull it off. Kendrys “No Glasses Necessary” Morales hit a bases loaded double but then Craig Kimbrel was able to get Devon Travis, Curtis Granderon, and Luke Maile to end the game. Such a tease!
  • The unfortunate part of all of that is the bottom of the eighth inning in which Ryan Tepera allowed two runs because he goofed up on a ground ball throw back to second base. Had he made that play maybe the Jays would have been able to pull of the comeback in the ninth. Maybe? MAYBE??? Probably not.
