Well, we’re finally here. The last weekend of the 2017 baseball season. The Yankees are playoff bound while the Jays are riding things out. It’s been a season full of ups downs, where, unfortunately, there were more downs than ups. Hopefully we can end the season on a positive note and give the Yankees a smack in front of their home crowd before winter purgatory arrives.

Joe Biagini will make the final start of his rollercoaster season in the series opener on Friday. Biagini started the year in the bullpen, got thrown into the rotation, was very good at first but tailed off, went down to Triple-A, and has been hit and miss since coming back. He’ll have a good start and then follow it up with bad start. All in all, Biagini has a 5.34 ERA and is in the running for the fifth spot in Toronto’s rotation next year, and a strong outing would be a great way to cap off his season. Masahiro Tanaka will go for the Yankees. After a dreadful start to the season, Tanaka pulled it together down the stretch, but got shelled by the Jays last weekend for seven earned runs.

Marcus Stroman will make his 33rd and final start of the season in New York on Saturday. Stroman has quite easily been Toronto’s best and most consistent starter this season, and with a strong outing on Saturday, he can surpass his career-high of 204 innings set last season. Jaime Garcia, who hasn’t won a game since being acquired from the Twins back in August, will start for the Yankees. Last weekend in Jose Bautista’s send-off, the Jays smacked Garcia around for five runs over two-and-a-third innings.

Sunday at 3:05 ET

altBrett Anderson will close out the season for the Blue Jays on Sunday. It’ll be the veteran lefty’s final opportunity to impress the front office and potentially leverage his solid September showing into a role with the team next season. In his first three starts, Anderson scattered six earned runs over 17 2/3 innings, but since developing a blister, he’s allowed 13 runs in 10 2/3 innings. Jordan Montgomery, the rookie who’s been a pleasant surprise in New York’s relatively thin starting rotation this year, will go for the Yankees.
