The Red Sox have only lost four games this season. Two of those losses came last weekend against the Oakland Athletics. Can the Blue Jays extend Boston’s losing streak??!

The series opener will be a duel between the 2016 AL Cy Young Winner and another 2016 AL Cy Young finalist. Rick Porcello has been excellent so far this year through four starts. He owns a 1.40 ERA, he’s striking out 8.1 batters per nine, he’s walking just 0.4 batters per nine, and he hasn’t allowed a homer. In his last two starts against New York and Anaheim, he hasn’t allowed a run over 13 innings while scattering just eight hits and no walks. Woof. J.A. Happ will oppose Porcello. Happ has been a little up and down this year, as he had a very good start against Baltimore and a mediocre one against Kansas City. All told, Happ has a 4.50 ERA and is striking out 12.7 batters per nine while walking 2.9 per nine.

This is probably the only pitching matchup that really favours the Jays in this series. Aaron Sanchez will go up against Eduardo Rodriguez in the second game of the series. Sanchez has been Toronto’s best starter thus far as he owns a 3.86 ERA through four starts, though his strikeouts to walks ratio and his tendency to burn out later in starts is somewhat worrying. Rodriguez has been good this year too. He’s made three starts and he’s sporting a 3.45 ERA while striking out 11.5 batters per nine.

The final game of the series was supposed to feature Marco Estrada and Drew Pomeranz, but the world isn’t fair, so the Red Sox used their off-day on Monday to ensure Chris Sale would get a start against the Blue Jays. I don’t have to explain to you how good Chris Sale is. Marco Estrada will have to be ACEstrada in the finale on Wednesday, which he hasn’t been in the past few games as the veteran has been dealing with back issues.

The Red Sox have looked unbeatable this year largely due to their ridiculously good pitching. Their Big Three of Sale, Porcello, and David Price have each been excellent, their depth starters have been good, and their ‘pen has been automatic. Their offence has relied heavily on Mookie Betts and his 1.191 OPS and *checks notes* Mitch Moreland and his 1.013 OPS. Still, as the Athletics proved last weekend, the Sox are beatable. It isn’t going to be easy, obviously, but it isn’t like Boston is guaranteed three wins just like that. Right? RIGHT>!>!>!>!>!????????
