Spring Threat: Jays vs. Mets

A Bartolo Colon start against the Jays and it isn’t televised? For shame!
But even bigger (though not, of course, literally) than that is Bartolo’s opponent on the mound today, Aaron Sanchez, who looks to continue to force the Jays’ hand in his quest to break camp as a member of the Blue Jays’ rotation.
The Mets even almost brought some recognizable names for him to mow down in the process. Almost.

Scuttlebutt

Marcus Stroman has been officially named the Jays’ Opening Day starter, which… apparently that wasn’t official before.
John Lott tweets that “Bautista is scratched with a stiff neck and Goins with a stomach virus, and @Wilnerness590 insists we give him credit for finding out first.”
Want stuff on today’s starter, Aaron Sanchez? We’ve got it! Yesterday Drew Fairservce made the case that Sanchez is a reliever and it’s probably time to accept that, while on Monday, John Lott argued that he should be a starter. I weighed in taking the third route, saying he should be a starter, but in Bufffalo (and suggesting Mark Shapiro’s recent comments on player development hint that’s how the front office might feel, too). You can catch that one over at Vice Sports.
