Are you familiar with the “If Young Metro don’t trust you…” meme? Well maybe you’ll want to get familiar, because I thiiiink it just reached its zenith — and it’s Jays related!
Deadspin explains, quite simply, that the meme “is based on the very true idea that the beat drop from Kanye West’s Father Stretch My Hands Pt. 1” — which follows the line “If Young Metro don’t trust you I’m gon’ shoot you” from Future and Drake’s single Jumpman — “can improve any video.”
In their post they provide a number of examples of the meme, which people hipper than I am were putting together and discovering days ago. And speaking of people hipper than me, we have theScore’s Scott Johnson, who has taken the concept and turned it into a pitch perfect promo for the Jays and MLB.
It doesn’t hurt that it also gives us an excuse to re-watch The Bat Flip.
Full disclosure: I used to work with Scott. Full disclosure part two: so that means I know he’s the best .Full disclosure part three: if they played this like it was a Bo Jackson highlight reel between every single inning on MLB.tv this summer, I still could never, ever, ever complain.
YES. THAT.
Let’s forget about all this contract business for a while and watch Jose sock some dingers! Bring on baseball!
