I know, I know. Spring Training results mean nothing. But still, we’re damn well going to talk about them. The Jays lost 3-0 to the Yankees today, managing just one hit. They’re now 0-3 in 2019 Grapefruit play.

Things worth mentioning…

  • Beyond Devon Travis and Kendrys Morales each drawing a walk off of James Paxton in the first inning, the only offence the Jays got all game came in the form of Teoscar Hernandez single off of Domingo German.
  • Marcus Stroman got the start for the Jays and went two innings while surrendering two solo homers. The first, of course, came to old pal Troy Tulowitzki. Stroman was in good spirits about allowing the former Jay to hit a bomb off of him. The other came in the second inning when Kyle Higashioka smashed a homer over the left field wall. More notes on Stroman… after his two innings, he had he felt “normal” for the first time since 2017. He also talked about how he wanted to throw to Danny Jansen so the rookie catcher could get familiar with his pitches.
  • Other pitching notes for the Jays… Daddy Barnes tossed an inning, surrendering one hit while striking out two. Javy Guerra (????) and Zack Jackson each had a scoreless frame with a walk, Justin Shafer worked around two hits for a scoreless inning, Conor Fisk had a clean frame, and Mark Leiter Jr. allowed a run on two hits. Not an overly exciting afternoon in terms of ‘pen names.
  • The best part of the game for the Jays? Bo’s flow.
