The Orioles just tied a team record for most losses in a season

The 2018 Baltimore Orioles exist for the sole reason of making the 2018 Blue Jays look less bad. This is a fact. With today’s win over the Trash Birds, the Jays have helped the O’s tie a new team record for incompetence. Hell yes.

The O’s dropped their 107th game of the season, which is their most amount of losses in a single season since 1988. If they lose five more games, they’ll have 112 losses, which set a new franchise record for losses in a season. Right now, the Orioles’ most losses came back in 1939 when they were the St. Louis Browns. They lost 111 that year.

Baltimore has two more games left to play against the Jays and then they play three against New York, three against Boston, and four against Houston. I mean, they could realistically lose all of those games and finish with 119 losses, which would be fucking incredible. It comes nowhere near the Cleveland Spiders’ record of 134 losses, but it would tie the hilariously-bad 2003 Detroit Tigers for 119 losses.

Also, we should state how excellent the Large Adult Sons were tonight. Ryan Borucki tossed eight scoreless frames, Rowdy Tellez drove in a run, Danny Jansen hit a homer, and Lourdes Gurriel did a drop ball trick and nearly turned a triple play.
