In the latest edition of “Break Joey Pitt’s heart by calling up a player,” the Toronto Blue Jays have reassigned right-handed pitcher Michael Dominguez to the Double-A New Hampshire Fisher Cats.
Dominguez has been dominant on the slab this summer at Nat Bailey Stadium for the Vancouver Canadians, boasting a 7-2 record in 15 games started on the mound. The 15th-round pick of the Blue Jays from the 2019 draft also led all C’s pitchers with 79 strikeouts in 66 innings pitched for the High-A Canadians.
In a corresponding move, RHP Pat Gallagher has been transferred to Vancouver from Single-A Dunedin.  Gallagher, a Toronto draftee from 2022, registered 63 strikeouts in 52 innings pitched for the little Blue Jays this Summer.  He’ll be expected to join Vancouver on the road, as the Canadians are in Oregon this week for a series with the Hillsboro Hops.  Gallagher will more than likely become climatized to the High-A game quickly, as he will end up in the rotation rather quickly, especially following Dominguez’s departure.
In other news, Minor League Baseball named Conor Larkin as the Northwest League Pitcher of the Week for July 24-30. This is the seventh time a Vancouver pitcher has won the weekly honour this season, as Chad Dallas, Trenton Wallace, Devereaux Harrison (twice), Dahian Santos, and Abdiel Mendoza did so previously.
The 24-year-old made three appearances for the C’s last week and allowed just one hit and one walk over five innings pitched while striking out a whopping 10 batters. All told, Larkin has a 4.45 ERA over 24 appearances for the Canadians this season with 35 strikeouts and 15 walks.
