The Canadian Futures Showcase, hosted annually by the Toronto Blue Jays, kicked off at the Rogers Center on Tuesday. Day 1 included a Scout Day that displayed all the tools and metrics readings for each positional player.
Scout Day is ideally the time to observe every prospect’s basic fundamentals and tools. The assessment starts with a 60-yard dash, followed by positional fielding, throws, and a batting practice session.

Players Who Stood Out…

OF Quinn Lightfoot – Team Red
This was definitely one of the most prominent bodies on the field today. Lightfoot presented a physical presence and an athletic-pro-type body. The outfield is nothing short of a 6’5” 210 lbs structure with a strong physical makeup.
The outfielder showed a projectable bat with some power left for further game display. His bat is raw with more juice to express. He gets the bat head out early and creates hard contact. He sits at a 102 exit velocity so far.
Lightfoot put on a good display of arm strength with impressive release relay-less throws from right field to third base and home.
C Kieran Cutler – Team Red
This 6’2” 195lbs catcher swings it from the right side with emphasis. His power is raw, and the ball jumps off of his barrel. On average, he’s a plus-95 on exit velocity, and he sent five long balls between the pull side and left-center field spray.
1B Felix Gosselin – Team Red
The crack of the bat drew attention to Gosselin. The first baseman originates from the notorious east-end ABC program in Quebec. Another strong bat with plus-pop and line-drive style hacks. This kid’s power and ability can assist any lineup and run production. He will be intriguing to watch during gameplay.
OF Ryan Stalony – Team New Blue
Stalony is uncommitted, and evaluators don’t know why. The Ontario Blue Jay runs a sub-seven with ease and sticks from the right side with an electric barrel. His exit velocity naturally sticks around 100 mph.
1B Dylan Zaretsky – Team Grey
Team Ontario’s towering first-baseman flashed a bat with pop, exit velocity, and airtime. Zaretsky is also sizable and projects well physically. He swings from the left side and creates a good launch on each point of contact at the plate.
3B Jordan Jacob – Team Grey
The 6’1” 210-pounder is also a product of the Ontario Blue Jays program and displayed the power he showed all year. His pull-side approach took flight in batting practice while launching well and creating great distance for a few out of the ballpark.
