This is why September baseball is so good. Even if you aren&#8217;t in a playoff race and your season is all but over, the influx of young players that join the expanded rosters at the beginning of the month add a whole new element to watching the games.
That&#8217;s what we witnessed tonight in Baltimore. Despite being shut out 1-0 on a walk-off by Jonathan Schoop in the bottom of the 13th, we got to witness exciting debuts from Richard Urena, Teoscar Hernandez, and Carlos Ramirez, three prospects who joined the team today.

If not for the grab made by Hernandez, we wouldn&#8217;t have made it all the way to the 13th inning. In the bottom of the ninth, Welington Castillo clubbed a lone drive to right field, but Hernandez tracked it down and made the catch up against the wall. If that ball drops, Trey Mancini scores and the game is over. Danny Barnes appreciated the effort.

Carlos Ramirez, the dude who converted from the outfield to pitch a few years ago, made his MLB debut and looked like a seasoned veteran. He struck out Tim Beckham and Manny Machado, then retired the next four batters in order. As a result, his scoreless inning streak has reached 39 2/3 innings. He hasn&#8217;t allowed a run all season. Not one!

Richard Urena also hit a double in his first MLB at bat! Unfortunately he was stranded, but still!
So all in all, it was a nice night for the new kids! Hernandez and Urena each picked up a hit, Hernandez made a game-saving catch, and Ramirez tossed two perfect frames. Come Monday, we&#8217;ll have a few more fresh faces on the roster to help inject some much-needed energy for the rest of the season.
