OF RJ Schreck
OF Alan Roden
OF Myles Straw
The only non-prospect invited to the camp is outfielder Myles Straw, whom the Jays acquired a few days ago from the Cleveland Guardians. Straw is a good bet to be on the Blue Jays roster in some capacity next season, as the 30-year-old provides tremendous speed and excellent outfield defence, while the bat is very light. His career-best year was in 2021, where he slashed .271/.349/.348 with four home runs in 638 for a 98 wRC+ and a 3 fWAR.
You have to imagine Roden will get a look with the Jays at some point as well. Last season between Double-A and Triple-A, the 25-year-old corner outfielder slashed .293/.391/.475 with 16 home runs in 530 plate appearances. The hit tool was great as his power developed.
RJ Schreck is one of a handful of prospects the Jays acquired at the 2024 deadline, along with Charles McAdoo, Eddinson Paulino, and Jacob Sharp. Of the four, Schreck performed the best, slashing .255/.377/.521 with five home runs in 114 plate appearances with the Double-A New Hampshire Fisher Cats.
Rainer Nuñez had a bounce-back season in 2024 after a dismal 2023. With the Fisher Cats, the first baseman slashed .275/.349/.416 with 12 home runs in 433 plate appearances for a 121 wRC+. He looked much more like the player we saw in 2022 than in 2023.
Josh Kasevich is in a similar boat to Roden, as both were drafted early in the 2022 draft out of college. Kasevich had a solid 2024 season, slashing .296/.348/.385 with six home runs in 566 plate appearances with the Buffalo Bisons and New Hampshire Fisher Cats. Riley Tirotta hit a career-high 15 home runs in 2024 and had a 123 wRC+ between Single-A, Double-A, and Triple-A.
Phil Clarke is seen as a catcher who could potentially be on the Jays roster at some point in 2025. Between Double-A and Triple-A, the 26-year-old slashed .260/.379/.340 with three home runs in 314 plate appearances, with a higher BB% (13.7) than K% (10.5%), but struggled once hitting Triple-A.
As for pitchers, Lazardo Estrada is one to be excited about. The 25-year-old has a nice fastball/slider combination with a very spinny curveball. Last season between Single-A, Double-A, and Triple-A, Estrada had a 3.29 ERA and a 3.31 FIP in 98.1 innings pitched, along with a 28 K% and an 8.2 BB%.
Mason Fluharty may be an option for the Blue Jays bullpen in 2025, as the left-handed pitcher selected in the 2022 draft had a 3.63 ERA and a 4.15 FIP in 67 innings pitched last season with Triple-A Buffalo, with a 27.4 K% and a 9 BB%. Hayden Juenger and Braydon Fisher both pitched in Triple-A last season, while Ryan Jennings finished the 2024 season in Double-A.
