Blue Jays Minor League Report: Adrian Pinto hit three home runs to start the week

Can you believe we’re already over a month into the 2025 Minor League Baseball season?
This is the May 6-8 edition of the Minor League Report, where we look at the past three games for each of the Blue Jays’ affiliates. We’ll look at the Triple-A Buffalo Bisons, Double-A New Hampshire Fisher Cats, High-A Vancouver Canadians, Single-A Dunedin Blue Jays, and FCL Jays in this article.
Let’s take a look at the week that was!
Bisons drop first three against the Saints
It’s been a tough start to this week’s series for the Buffalo Bisons. On Tuesday, they fell 6-2 to the St. Paul Saints, with Jonatan Clase and Orelvis Martínez each hitting a double and a single in that game. Easton Lucas made the start, striking out three in three innings of work. Paxton Schultz gave up two earned runs in three innings, while Eric Pardinho pitched another scoreless inning.. Jacob Barnes gave up three earned runs in his inning of work.
In Wednesday’s game, the Bisons were walked off 8-7. Joey Loperfido hit his fourth home run with the Bisons, and Davis Schneider hit his first home run since returning to the Triple-A team. Loperfido had a three-hit game, as did Will Robertson. Will Wagner and Schneider had two-hit games. Anders Tolhurst started the game, giving up three earned runs in four innings of work. Josh Walker picked up a blown save and the loss, giving up three earned runs without retiring a batter.
The Bisons suffered another walk-off loss on Thursday, falling 13-10 in that game. Ali Sánchez hit his fifth home run of the season, and Riley Tirotta hit his fourth home run of the season. Tirota, Loperfido, and Michael Stefanic each hit a double. Trenton Wallace gave up four earned runs in four and a third innings of work. Jimmy Burnette gave up two earned runs in two-thirds of an inning, and Eric Pardinho’s scoreless inning streak came to an end, giving up five earned runs in an inning and a third.

Fisher Cats rained out twice, split doubleheader
Tuesday and Thursday’s games were rained out for the Fisher Cats, with their only two games coming on Wednesday. The first game was a 2-1 victory thanks to two runs scored in the bottom of the third. RJ Schreck hit a triple, which drove in Jay Harry and Jacob Sharp. CJ Van Eyk pitched all seven innings, giving up an earned run in the top of the seventh and striking out six.
Unfortunately, the Fisher Cats were unable to repeat their success in the second game, falling 4-2. Schreck hit a double, while Jace Bohrofen hit a double and a triple. Rafael Sanchez pitched two innings with three earned runs. Ryan Jennings, Hunter Gregory, and Bobby Milacki all pitched scoreless outings, with Gregory dropping his season ERA to 0.69.
Canadians snapped a three-game losing streak with a win on Thursday
The Vancouver Canadians dropped the first two games against Spokane. Tuesday’s game was a 9-2 loss, with Adrian Pinto hitting his fifth home run, Aaron Parker hitting his sixth double, and Jackson Hornung hitting his first triple. Juaron Watts-Brown had a tough start, giving up five earned runs in three and two-thirds innings. Julio Ortiz also had a rough outing, giving up four earned runs in two-thirds of an inning. Jonathan Todd struck out three in his inning and a third.
On Wednesday, the Canadians fell 9-7 for their third consecutive loss. Pinto had a three-hit game, hitting two home runs and a double. Sean Keys, Cutter Coffey, Arjun Nimmala, and Alex Stone all hit doubles. Kevin Miranda gave up six earned runs in five innings of work. Yondrei Rojas appeared in his first game this season, striking out two in his innings of work. Aaron Munson blew the save, while Chay Yeeger was tagged with the loss.

The Canadians got back in the win column on Thursday, defeating Spokane 5-1. Carter Cunningham hit two home runs, while Keys hit his third home run of the season, along with two doubles. Nimmala and Hornung also hit doubles in this game. Fernando Perez pitched six innings, giving up an earned run and striking out three. Nate Garkow pitched the remainder of the game, striking out six in three perfect innings.
D-Jays took two of three against Mighty Mussels
The Dunedin Blue Jays sure like to play high-scoring games. On Tuesday, they were walked off 13-12 by the Fort Myers Mighty Mussels. Manuel Beltre, Sam Shaw, Kendry Chirinos, and Bryce Arnold all hit home runs. Chirinos hit a double, while Devonte Brown hit two doubles and Tucker Toman hit his third double of the season. Pitching didn’t go great, with Austin Cates throwing two-thirds of an inning with three earned runs. The only pitcher with a scoreless outing was Eminen Flores, who pitched two and one-third innings with one strikeout. Javen Coleman threw two innings without giving up an earned run, striking out six in the process.
On Wednesday, the D-Jays got back in the win column thanks to a 7-3 win. Jean Joseph and Shaw each hit a home run, while Arnold hit a double and Edward Duran hit a triple. Trey Yesavage had a good start, pitching five innings with three runs, only one of which was earned. He also struck out seven. Gage Stanifer pitched four scoreless innings, striking out seven and walking three to bring his season ERA to 0.41.

Thanks to a top-of-the-ninth run, the D-Jays defeated the Mighty Mussels 5-4 on Thursday. Brown hit a home run, as did Joseph, his third homer of the season. Shaw had a two-hit game in this game as well. Colby Holcombe made the start, pitching three and one-third innings with three earned runs against and four strikeouts. Justin Kelly picked up the blown save in his rehab appearance, giving up an unearned run and striking out two in two innings of work. Daniel Guerra struck out three in three innings of work.

FCL Jays split two games against FCL Tigers
On Tuesday, the Florida Complex League Jays fell 2-0 to the FCL Tigers on home turf. The only player with a hit for the FCL Jays was Dariel Ramon, who hit a single. Ryan Burr made a rehab appearance, striking out two in an inning of work. Adam Macko also pitched in a rehab appearance, giving up two earned runs, two walks, and striking out six in three and one-third innings. Troy Guthrie made his professional debut, pitching two scoreless innings to end the game.
Thankfully, the FCL Jays were able to recover in a road game against the FCL Tigers, defeating them 9-7 on Thursday. Andres Arias hit the team’s first home run of the season, while Yorman Licourt hit two doubles and David Beckles hit his second double of the season. Chris McElvain (acquired in the Santiago Espinal trade) made a rehab appearance, striking out two in three innings. Carson Messina made his big league debut, giving up two earned runs in two innings of work, while Samuel Colmenares struck out four in his three innings of work.
