The Toronto Blue Jays are heading to Williamsport.

Major League Baseball and the Blue Jays announced today that they will face the Chicago Cubs at the 2027 MLB Little League Classic, slated for August 19th, 2027.

The Little League World Series is hosted every year in South Williamsport, Pennsylvania, at the Howard J. Lamade Stadium and Volunteer Stadium. Boys and girls aged 10-12 years compete for the title, with currently over 20 teams taking part – 10 from different regions in the United States and 10 from eight different regions.

In 2017, Major League Baseball announced the inaugural MLB Little League Classic, a one-game showdown between two teams to take place at Bowman Field, home to the Williamsport Crosscutters of the MLB Draft League. Since then, the following teams have played at the event:

This will be the Toronto Blue Jays’ first time playing at Bowman Field, while the Cubs are back for their second time around. When the Cubs faced the Pirates back in 2019, Chicago ended up winning the game by a score of 7-1, with Jose Quintana getting the win while Nick Castellanos, Jason Heyward, and Anthony Rizzo all homered for the Cubbies.

Behind the scenes, one member of the Blue Jays staff has been to the annual game (and was even part of the inaugural contest). Dan Shulman, the Jays’ play-by-play broadcaster, was in the booth for the 2017 matchup, lending his play-by-play abilities to the game as part of ESPN’s Sunday Night Baseball weekly feature.
