Major League Baseball players probably look forward to Spring Training photo day about as much as grade school kids anticipate school picture day. Wear your best outfit, don’t mess up your hair, and for heaven’s sake, smile like your life depends on it.
It’s always interesting to see what new looks players are rocking this year, or even to see new players in a Blue Jays uniform for the first time.
These were some of the most noteworthy pictures from the Blue Jays’ spring training photo day from last week.

It will take some getting used to, but it will never not be weird to see Bo Bichette without his signature locks. Good thing we have the ‘Bo Flow’ bobbleheads to reflect on if need be.

Maybe this is Vlad’s “I’m wondering how this swing would look in a Yankees or Red Sox uniform” pose? Too soon?

The Blue Jays’ new hitting coach David Popkins looks like someone you’d want in your corner in a bar fight bench-clearing brawl.

Feb 21, 2025; Dunedin, FL, USA; Toronto Blue Jays pitcher Max Scherzer (31) participates in media day at the Blue Jays Player Development Complex. Mandatory Credit: Nathan Ray Seebeck-Imagn Images
You can almost just picture Max Scherzer cursing a string of expletives under his breath right after this shot. They don’t call him ‘Mad Max’ for nothing.

Feb 21, 2025; Dunedin, FL, USA; Toronto Blue Jays pitcher Bowden Francis (44) participates in media day at the Blue Jays Player Development Complex. Mandatory Credit: Nathan Ray Seebeck-Imagn Images
Not only is Bowden Francis the most accessorized guy on the roster, but he has the best glove on the Blue Jays as well. Nothing beats that purple Rawlings glove with “EXHALE” inscribed on the side. Francis reportedly has a new blonde hairdo, too.

Feb 21, 2025; Dunedin, FL, USA;Toronto Blue Jays pitcher Kevin Gausman (34) participates in media day at the Blue Jays Player Development Complex. Mandatory Credit: Nathan Ray Seebeck-Imagn Images
This might be the shortest hair Kevin Gausman has ever worn during his tenure with the Blue Jays. I don’t think we’ve ever seen a bearded Gausman either, so this is really jarring.

Feb 21, 2025; Dunedin, FL, USA; Toronto Blue Jays pitcher Jose Berríos (17) participates in media day at the Blue Jays Player Development Complex. Mandatory Credit: Nathan Ray Seebeck-Imagn Images
José Berríos seems like a perpetually cheerful guy (unless he’s being taken out of a playoff game in the middle of one of the best starts of his career). Also very cool that he has his Gold Glove label on his glove.

Feb 21, 2025; Dunedin, FL, USA; Toronto Blue Jays pitcher Jeff Hoffman (23) participates in media day at the Blue Jays Player Development Complex. Mandatory Credit: Nathan Ray Seebeck-Imagn Images
A few of the Blue Jays players have some extra flair on their uniforms, including Jeff Hoffman, who has “JF” and “23” embroidered into this belt loop. I wonder if they just recycled some of his old uniforms from when the Blue Jays drafted him in 2014?

Feb 21, 2025; Dunedin, FL, USA; Toronto Blue Jays pitcher Alek Manoah (6) participates in media day at the Blue Jays Player Development Complex. Mandatory Credit: Nathan Ray Seebeck-Imagn Images
Alek Manoah is still rehabbing his Tommy John surgery, but his hair game is already in mid-season form. The Blue Jays could use Manoah’s contributions down the stretch if he could pull a late-season 2023 Hyun-Jin Ryu and eat up some innings in a hopeful postseason push.

Feb 21, 2025; Dunedin, FL, USA; Toronto Blue Jays Cather Robert Brooks (92) participates in media day at the Blue Jays Player Development Complex. Mandatory Credit: Nathan Ray Seebeck-Imagn Images
No, that’s not Davis Schneider’s cousin, that’s Blue Jays spring training invitee Robert Brooks. The resemblance is uncanny, as noted by Minor Leaguer.

Feb 21, 2025; Dunedin, FL, USA; Toronto Blue Jays outfielder Anthony Santander (25) participates in media day at the Blue Jays Player Development Complex. Mandatory Credit: Nathan Ray Seebeck-Imagn Images
Watch out, Anthony, you’re going to poke out somebody’s eye with that thing. We will be ok with it if you belt 40 home runs again this season though.

Feb 21, 2025; Dunedin, FL, USA; Toronto Blue Jays catcher Tyler Heineman (55) participates in media day at the Blue Jays Player Development Complex. Mandatory Credit: Nathan Ray Seebeck-Imagn Images
The Blue Jays missed an opportunity here by not letting Tyler Heineman tap into his amateur magician side. A top hat, wand or even a stray rabbit would’ve made this photo pop.
