A former Blue Jays reliever has already found a new home.
The Baltimore Orioles announced earlier today that the club had signed left-hander Josh Walker to a Major League deal, bringing back the reliever after he finished the year in the organization. The terms of the deal were not announced.
Fans may recall that the Toronto Blue Jays signed Walker in mid-December last winter, adding another name to the bullpen mix heading into the new season. He didn’t crack the big league roster out of Spring Training and was optioned to Triple-A Buffalo.
Walker would be recalled on April 21st, making three appearances. The New York product would allow eight hits, four earned runs, and two walks across five innings of work, striking out eight hitters. He would be optioned back to Buffalo in early May and later designated for assignment on May 25th after Tyler Heineman landed on the 7-day concussion IL, with the Jays adding catcher Ali Sanchez to the 40-man in Walker’s spot. He would be traded to the Philadelphia Phillies a few days later, spending his time in Lehigh Valley during his Phillies tenure.
The Phillies would DFA Walker in mid-August, and the Orioles would claim him on waivers on August 21st. He missed a couple of weeks on the IL to round out the campaign, but similar to his time in Philadelphia, he finished the campaign in Triple-A. Across 40 outings with all three clubs in Triple-A, Walker produced a 4.64 ERA and a 1.43 WHIP across 42 2/3 innings, striking out 45 batters while allowing 22 earned runs.
The 30-year-old enters the 2026 season with zero player options.
