Game Threat: Jays (55-44) vs. Padres (43-56)

The Padres are bad. Oh man, the Padres are bad.
Look at that lineup! Look at it next to the gorgeous Blue Jays one!
Look at the 5.01 ERA on their starter tonight, Colin Rae. A pitcher who, I’m confident, pitches his home games in San Diego!
This could end in tears. At least until Padres fans remember the goddamned paradise they live in. But baseball-wise, this series looks like a chance for the Jays to really get on a roll with Baltimore heading to town on the weekend.
But we can’t get too ahead of ourselves. Funny things happen in this game sometimes. Funny, infuriating, rage-inducing, you-gotta-be-fucking-shitting-fucking-me things. Fingers crossed that they don’t though!
Fingers crossed also that Melvin Upton — who is out of the Padres lineup tonight, perhaps in anticipation of a trade — and Andrew Cashner end up not leaving town after this series. To stick around and play for the Blue Jays, that is — not to wait for their soon-to-be-new Orioles teammates. Unless they’re actually bad, in which case, sure, be Orioles for all I care!
I wrote about the Jays’ possible interest in Cashner earlier today, and Upton a week or so ago. Sure, why not?
Scuttlebutt
Speaking of Padres used as trade bait, Drew Pomeranz makes his second start for the Boston Red Sox tonight against the Tigers. How hilarious would it be if he was bad again? (Hint: very.)
Hey, and apparently this is the Padres first time visiting Toronto. Meh.
