The Toronto Blue Jays and Baltimore Orioles will conclude this week’s four-game series at Camden Yards with a matinee game on Wednesday.
Starting for the Blue Jays will be journeyman Paolo Espino, who was called up from Triple-A Buffalo to fill Yusei Kikuchi’s spot in the rotation after the left-hander was moved to the Houston Astros. The 37-year-old right-hander has a 4.91 ERA over 13 starts for the Bisons this season and has made two relief appearances with the Blue Jays.
Going for the Orioles will be 2018 first-round pick Grayson Rodriguez, who’s putting together a strong season in his second year in the Majors. The right-hander has a 3.82 ERA over 19 starts and has struck out 122 batters over 110 2/3 innings of work.
The highlight of this game for the Blue Jays will be the debut of outfielder Joey Loperfido, who was acquired in the aforementioned Kikuchi trade with Houston. Loperfido, a left-handed hitting outfielder, posted a .236 batting average and .658 on-base plus slugging percentage over 38 games with the Astros before being traded this season.
