Death, taxes and no run support for Kevin Gausman.
Three things in life — at least this year — we know will come.
The Toronto Blue Jays’ issue of scoring have been well documented. No team in baseball has stranded more base runners than the Jays 836, and all but two qualified starters this season have less run support than Gausman.
With him on the mound, the Jays have scored 3.34 runs per nine innings. Only Logan Webb (3.27) and Kyle Freeland (3.03) have had lesser support.
Couple it with the fact that Gausman has been one of the best pitchers in the big leagues this season, and you have an undoubtedly frustrating scenario wherein Gausman’s record is 8-6.
Tonight, he takes the mound opposite of Guardians lefty Logan Allen. Can the Jays get to him tonight?
