It’ll be Jose Berrios leading the charge for the Toronto Blue Jays Tuesday night when they play host to the Cincinnati Reds for Game 2 of a three-game set.
The Blue Jays fell in Game 1 Monday night, after the Reds put together a four-run sixth inning. While they couldn’t do much damage against Julian Aguiar in the first start of him MLB career, they’ll hope to do so against Carson Spiers. His 4.55 ERA is a bit misleading, as prior to allowing eight earned runs against the Milwaukee Brewers, he had a 3.59 ERA across his first 12 starts of his season.
Berrios, meanwhile, continues to string along strong starts for the Jays, carrying a 3.23 ERA across his last five starts, including one which he gave up five earned runs to the Yankees. Beyond those? He allowed three, one, one and one earned runs.
