Ladies and gentlemen, please fasten your seatbelts.
We are days away from the end of Major League Baseball, and the Toronto Blue Jays’, regular season. For 12 teams, their hopes and dreams of chasing a World Series. For 18 others, that won’t be the case.
Signs continue to point towards the Blue Jays being one of the 12 happy teams, unlike their opponents tonight — the New York Yankees, who find themselves going through a “dragged out, painful death,” as slugger Aaron Judge alluded to yesterday.
FanGraphs have the Jays at a 90.3 per cent chance to make the playoffs with Baseball Reference slightly higher at 91.5 per cent.
And as the wind blows, the Jays can take care of things themselves by simply three of their four remaining games. If not, well, there’s a whole bunch of math colleague Thomas Hall dove into this morning.
As the Jays look to clutch up and walk out with a win tonight, it will be Chris “The Hound” Bassitt taking the mound opposite of Luke Weaver and his 6.47 ERA.
