It’s been an arduous start for the Toronto Blue Jays, who look to check off their first series sweep of the season Wednesday night against the Chicago White Sox.
A day after the Jays secured a 7-2 win amid some poorly managed rain delays, the club will send Alek Manoah to the mound in hopes of securing the victory. The batting order, meanwhile, will continue to be anchored by Davis Schneider in the leadoff spot.
Since taking over the spot on May 18th, Schneider has been excellent in the top spot in 11 games since, slashing .244/.340/.349, driving in 10 runs with 10 hits, five doubles and a home run. Behind him will be the Jays home run leader Daulton Varsho batting second, followed by Vladimir Gurrero Jr. and Bo Bichette in the third and fourth spots.
Opposite Manoah will be Chris Flexen taking the mound as he continues to struggle for the second straight season. He’s posted a 5.69 ERA and 4.82 FIP on the season, giving up three or more earned runs in six of his 11 stars.
