All around baseball, front office and coaching staff are leaving their now former teams and the Blue Jays aren’t an exception.
Reported on Friday morning, the team’s head athletic trainer Nikki Huffman has left Toronto to pursue her own business.
What appeared to be a normal turn of events — staff leave teams all the time — turned into a little bit of curiosity when a certain Toronto pitcher tweeted out something about Huffman.
Marcus Stroman tweeted that he was “super excited” to have her “back in his circle” shortly after it was announced the trainer would be leaving the club for a private opportunity.
Crazy excited for the future. Got @NikkiG_13 back in my circle. Super thankful to have her with me every step of the way. She’s the best PT/Trainer/Strength Coach in the world and will change the lives of many athletes going forward. Time to climb. Loyalty over everything!
Whether that means Stroman hired her directly already or that she is simply “back in Stroman’s circle” because she is not with his former team anymore, is still a mystery. But there is clearly some animosity throughout that tweet from the New York Met.
Huffman has been with the Blue Jays for the past four years, being a part of the team through the most exciting times for the club in recent memory. Yet another — albeit less impact obviously — member of those fond memories have left the club for other opportunities.
