Toronto Blue Jays fans collectively held their breath a week ago Monday when star short stop Bo Bichette suffered a non-contact knee injury.

It happened amid a game against the Baltimore Orioles when Bichette hit a single to right field. He rounded first base pushing for second, but stopped up to return to safety.
As he put on the brakes, he pulled up immediately reaching for the front of his right knee. Officially diagnosed with right patellar tendinitis, Bichette began to ramp up some training over the weekend with some baseball activities.
On Monday, those increased and Jays GM Ross Atkins said Tuesday Bichette had a “great day” and was “was moving around with very few symptoms, almost not at all.”
”We’re obviously going to progress him cautiously and be careful with how we’re loading that knee, but he had a really, really encouraging day where he felt much better,” Atkins said. “We’re still day-to-day as we progress out of this, but a really good day for him (Monday).”

Bichette was placed on the 10-day IL, so we’re now creeping up on the date where the Jays need to reevaluate his status.
News that he is moving well is promising, to say the least, doubly so given how serious his injury initially appeared to be. The Jays acquired short stop Paul DeJong on the cheap during the trade deadline, but he’s struggled at the plate going a meagre 2-for-28 striking out eight times.
It was reported around the time of the DeJong trade that <a href="https://bluejaysnation.com/news/toronto-blue-jays-shortstop-bo-bichette-not-expected-out-too-long">Bichette’s injury wasn’t believed to keep him out of the lineup for long</a>, so things appear to be tracking well. It’s worth noting that Bichette hasn’t swung a bat yet,
Thankfully, the Jays have boomed going 5-1 without Bichette.
