The Toronto Blue Jays look like an absolute juggernaut this Spring Training.
On Tuesday afternoon, they hosted the St. Louis Cardinals in Dunedin, overcoming a 2-0 deficit to defeat them by a score of 3-2. The Blue Jays are now 3-0 this Spring Training.
Max Scherzer made his Spring Training debut for the Jays but allowed a lead-off triple on just his second pitch as a Blue Jay. The runner scored thanks to a sacrifice fly. In the top of the third inning with Bowden Francis in the game, the Cardinals extended their lead with Victor Scott II’s first home run of the Spring.
It was all the Blue Jays from there, though. In the bottom of the third, Alejandro Kirk hit his second RBI with a 99.7 mph grounder that ended up being a single to cut the lead in half. They tied the game in the bottom of the fourth as Andrés Giménez hit a single with two outs and a runner on third.
The game was won in the bottom of the sixth, as Michael Stefanic hit, you guessed it, a single that scored Alan Roden to give Toronto a 3-2 lead. They coasted to a win after that to move to 3-0 this Spring Training.

Takeaways…
There has been a notable lack of power so far this Spring Training. In the three games, only Orelvis MartĂnez has hit a home run while a handful of players have hit doubles. At what point do you start to get worried?
One of the Blue Jays’ doubles this off-season came on Tuesday, as Davis Schneider hit a double to lead off the fourth and scored the game-tying run. Hopefully, we get more of this from the 26-year-old this season.
Alejandro Kirk had two more hard-hit balls, finishing with the fifth-highest exit velocity (100.9 mph groundout) and the eighth-highest exit velocity (99.7 mph single). He’s having a good Spring Training.
Max Scherzer made his Blue Jays Spring Training debut, striking out four batters in two innings of work. While the fastball sat around 92 mph, he averaged three whiffs on it and had a game-high eight whiffs.
Two Blue Jays relievers who’ll be on the 26-man roster made their Spring Training debut on Tuesday. Chad Green pitched an inning of work with a walk, while Yimi GarcĂa pitched a clean inning.
Lazaro Estrada also made his Spring Training debut, pitching two innings with two strikeouts and a walk. The 25-year-old generated three whiffs with a fastball touching 95.5 mph (averaging 94.5 mph) with a very spinny curveball, averaging 2822 RPM. Moreover, his slider and splitter both generated a whiff.
The Blue Jays are back in action on Wednesday at 1:07 PM ET, as they host Jordan Romano and the Philadelphia Phillies at TD Ballpark in Dunedin. JosĂ© BerrĂos is the expected starter for the Blue Jays.
