It’s going to be a good season for the Toronto Blue Jays’ prospects if Saturday’s Spring Breakout game is any indication.
The Blue Jays played their Spring Breakout game, defeating the Minnesota Twins’ prospects 10-0 to win their first-ever Spring Breakout game. Let’s take a look at what happened in this game.
After two scoreless innings, the game’s first scoring came courtesy of Alan Roden’s double to make it 2-0 for the Blue Jays. In the bottom of the fourth, Jacob Sharp hit an RBI double, followed by a single from top Blue Jays prospect Arjun Nimmala. The inning was capped off by Orelvis Martínez’s bases-loaded walk, giving the Blue Jays a 5-0 lead.
The following inning, the Jays scored thanks to a fielding error from a ball put in play by Dasan Brown. Toronto scored the rest of their runs in the bottom of the sixth, as Peyton Williams drove in Eddinson Paulino to make it 7-0, followed by a bases-loaded walk to Cutter Coffey and a pop-up single from Brock Tibbitts that scored two runs.
Takeaways…
Hitting was great for the young Blue Jays players. They had 11 hits in total, with Arjun Nimmala, Eddinson Paulino, and Peyton Williams each hitting two singles. Doubles were hit by Alan Roden, Jacob Sharp, and Cutter Coffey, while Brock Tibbitts and Charles McAdoo had the other singles.
Of course, that was only one-half of the shutout, as their pitching also did great. Jake Bloss started the game, striking out four in his two innings of work. Trey Yesavage made his professional debut, striking out three in his two innings of work (all coming in his second inning).

Also making his professional debut was Khal Stephen, who struck out a batter in his inning of work. Kendry Rojas pitched a clean inning with no strikeouts, while Mason Fluharty recorded the final three outs.
Unfortunately, there’s only one Spring Breakout game a season, so the next time the Blue Jays prospects are in action is sometime next March. However, the Blue Jays play on Sunday at 1:07 PM ET against the Atlanta Braves in Dunedin.
