Landen Maorudis has had a tough go of things since returning from injury.
This is Blue Jays Nation’s annual mid-season prospect list, where we’ll take a look at the 50 best prospects in the Toronto Blue Jays organization. I’ll look at the player’s stats, what other publications have to say, as well as my own observations of the players.
Although the 6’3”, 190 lbs right-handed pitcher has struggled in 2025, the stuff is exciting and good enough to rank him as our 28th-best Blue Jays prospect in the mid-season update. If you missed the last article, Micah Bucknam ranked as our 29th-best prospect.

Getting to know Landen Maroudis…

Position: Starting pitcher
Throws: Right
Born: December 16th, 2004
Acquired: Fourth round, 2023 draft
Previous ranking: 16th (2025 pre-season)
The Blue Jays selected the Floridian in the fourth round of the 2023 draft, signing the righty to an over-slot bonus worth $1.5 million. Like many pitchers the Blue Jays draft, Maroudis didn’t make his professional debut until the following season, but what a debut it was.
In his first game, Maroudis struck out five in four perfect innings, instantly putting himself on the map. He allowed an earned run in the next game, while walking four and striking out four in four and one-third innings. Maroduis’ final appearance of the 2024 season was on April 21, pitching two and one-third innings before being pulled from the game. It was later reported that he underwent the brace version of Tommy John surgery, missing the rest of the 2024 season.
Once Maroudis returned to action, the 20-year-old hasn’t been as dominant as he was last season. In six rehab appearances with the Florida Complex League Blue Jays, he authored a 4.80 ERA and 4.23 FIP in 15 innings pitched, with a 20.6 K% and 15.9 BB%.
He found his way back to the Single-A Dunedin Blue Jays, where Maroudis has struggled big time, posting a 6.83 ERA and 6.82 FIP in 29 innings pitched, or 10 starts. More worrisome is the fact that his BB% (22.6%) is higher than his K% (12.8%)
While his 2025 stats are less than ideal, it’s worth noting that in an article by Sportsnet’s Shi Davidi in early August noted that the Blue Jays told the righty not to worry about results, and command is usually the last thing to come back.
Maroudis ranked as MLB Pipeline’s 29th-best prospect in their mid-season update. Their bio notes his fastball velocity has dipped to the low-90s, down from his mid-90s velocity before surgery. Maroudis also features a curveball, slider, and changeup, but he’s struggled to command his pitches in 2025.
While the team has told the 20-year-old not to worry about the results this season, next season will be a big season for the righty. If he starts the year like he did in 2024, he will have restored his stock. If he continues to struggle, most of his prospect shine will have disappeared. Let’s hope it’s the former.
