It was an interesting night in Toronto’s farm system on Thursday. Down in Bluefield, 17-year-old Eric Pardinho threw the best start of his professional career, tossing six-and-a-third perfect innings. In New Hampshire, Cavan Biggio smacked two bombs, including a walk-off home run, to improve on his league-leading total.

Pardinho was perfect against Minnesota’s Baby League team for six-and-a-third before allowing a single in the seventh inning. He would get through the next two batters and exit the game with a line of seven innings pitched, one hit, no walks, no runs, and six strikeouts. Through 10 starts in Bluefield, the righty has a 2.93 ERA and has 57 strikeouts to just 13 walks. He’s also, like, three years younger than everyone in the league.

Sticking with Bluefield for a second, Toronto’s first-round pick from 2018 Jordan Groshans is getting the call up to the Appalachian League. He’s hit the ground running in the Gulf Coast League. Through 36 games, Groshans is slashing a .333/.392/.504 line with four homers and 39 RBIs.

Biggio continues to kick the shit out of Double-A baseball. He hit two bombs in a comeback win over the Altoona Curve, giving him 26 on the season. He’s now slashing a .257/.397/.532 line with the Fisher Cats. Another interesting note is that Biggio played right field for the first time last night. He’s now played first, second, third, and right field. It’s cool to see the Jays giving their minor leaguers positional versatility as they come up through the system.
