Lenyn Sosa doubles in first game with Triple-A Buffalo

Lenyn Sosa is trying to force his way back onto the Toronto Blue Jays roster.
After clearing outright assignment waivers and being assigned to Triple-A Buffalo, the 26-year-old opened his tenure in Triple-A with the Buffalo Bisons in strong fashion. 
During the Bisons’ 10-2 win over the Lehigh Valley IronPigs, Sosa went 1-for-3 with a double, a walk, and a run scored. Batting sixth and playing second base in his Bisons debut, Sosa fell behind 0-2 in the count before driving an 81.8 MPH changeup from right-hander Alan Rangel. The ball left Sosa’s bat at 95.9 MPH and found its way into the left-field corner. 
Sosa came around to score on C.J. Stubbs’ eighth home run of the season before returning to the plate in the bottom of the third inning. Facing Rangel once again, Sosa drove an 0-1 fastball to right field 97.3 MPH off the bat, but the liner was caught by IronPigs right fielder Gabriel Rincones Jr. 
The former Chicago White Sox stepped back up to the plate in the bottom of the fourth, this time against former Blue Jays reliever Kirby Snead. Sosa and Snead engaged in a five-pitch battle before the left-hander was able to retire him on a flyout to Rincones. 
In his final at-bat of the contest, Sosa drew a walk, something he achieved only once during his 40 games this season between the Blue Jays and White Sox. Facing lefty Tucker Davidson, Sosa fell behind 0-2 before fouling off two pitches and taking four balls to work an eight-pitch walk to close out his afternoon at the plate. 
After being acquired from the White Sox in April, Sosa appeared in 28 games with the Blue Jays and batted .188 with one home run and six RBIs. Sosa was injured May 26 after being hit on the wrist by Sandy Alcantara in the bottom of the sixth during the Blue Jays’ 8-1 victory over the Miami Marlins. 
After being placed on the injured list two days later with a right wrist contusion, Sosa was expected to begin a rehab assignment in June, but those plans came to an end after he suffered discomfort following three games. 
Finally pain-free, Sosa got into four games with Single-A Dunedin, in which he went 2-for-10 with one RBI before being put on waivers. Still a part of the Blue Jays organization, Sosa could become a factor in September if he can start swinging the bat like he did in the 2025 season when he hit 22 home runs.
