All-Star weekend is less than a month away.
There are a handful of Toronto Blue Jays players who could head to Atlanta for the All-Star game on July 13, including Vladimir Guerrero Jr., Alejandro Kirk, and Addison Barger. That weekend also features some festivities surrounding prospects, including the 2025 MLB draft (which the Blue Jays pick eighth) and the Futures Game.
Last season, the Blue Jays sent Fernando Perez to the Futures Game. The year before that, it was Sem Robberse and Yosver Zulueta, the latter’s second trip to the Futures Game, as he and Ricky Tiedemann attended in 2022.
In this article, we’ll look at five Blue Jay prospects who could earn a trip to Atlanta.
Trey Yesavage
The first two prospects on this list aren’t surprising – Trey Yesavage and Arjun Nimmala.
Starting with Yesavage, the Blue Jays selected him 20th overall in the 2024 draft out of East Carolina University. The 21-year-old righty didn’t make his professional debut until this season, but he has been dominant this season.
In Single-A, he had a 2.43 ERA and a 2.30 FIP in 33.1 innings pitched, with a 43.3 K% and a 6.3 BB%. Yesavage’s promotion to High-A was short, starting just four games where he had a 1.56 ERA and a 3.13 FIP in 17.1 innings pitched, with a 47.8 K% and a 15.9 BB%.
Since joining the Double-A New Hampshire Fisher Cats, Yesavage has struggled a bit, as he has a 6.75 ERA and a 4.05 FIP in 6.2 innings pitched. This isn’t a shock, given he’s facing more experienced hitters. It’s an adjustment period, but I could see him reaching Triple-A at some point this season.
Arjun Nimmala
The draft before Yesavage was selected 20th overall, Nimmala was the player the Blue Jays selected 20th overall.
Nimmala struggled to start his first full season last year. After some time on the development list, he finished the 2024 season slashing .232/.325/.482 with 17 home runs in 391 plate appearances, with a 10 BB% and a 30.7 K% for a 126 wRC+.
The Jays started the 19-year-old shortstop in High-A with the Vancouver Canadians, where he has found success. In 281 plate appearances, Nimmala is slashing .266/.356/.484 with 11 home runs, with an 11.4 BB% and a 19.9 K%.
Gage Stanifer
Looking at more under-the-radar type of prospects who could earn a trip to Atlanta, we have Gage Stanifer.
The 21-year-old right-handed pitcher was selected in the 19th round of the 2022 draft out of high school. After two seasons with mediocre results in the Florida Complex League and Single-A, the righty has broken out this season.
In 26 innings with the Dunedin Blue Jays, Stanifer had a 0.69 ERA and a 2.31 FIP, with a 36.9 K% and an 11.7 BB%. Stanifer usually followed Yesavage, and the two pitchers were promoted to the Vancouver Canadians together.
With the Canadians, Stanifer has a 3.92 ERA and 1.55 FIP in 20.2 innings pitched. His K% has risen to 44.9%, but his BB% also took a jump to 14.6%.
It may be unlikely for Stanifer to pitch at the Futures Game, but he’s a prospect worth watching.
Yohendrick Pinango
Yohendrick Pinango signed with the Chicago Cubs in 2018 and put up mediocre-to-good results in parts of seven seasons in the organization. Before the trade deadline, the Blue Jays traded Nate Pearson to the Cubs in exchange for Pinango and Josh Rivera.
Pinango didn’t have a good end to his 2024 with the Jays, but he became one of the fastest rising prospects in the system after his start in 2025. In 192 plate appearances with the New Hampshire Fisher Cats, Pinango slashed .298/.406/.522 with eight home runs in 192 plate appearances for a 170 wRC+.
The 23-year-old rightfully earned a promotion to Triple-A. So far, he’s slashing .217/.319/.450 with three home runs in 69 plate appearances. He’s cooled off a bit at the highest level of the minors, but he’s one of many bright spots in the Jays’ organization this season.
Edward Duran
Before the 2022 trade deadline, the Blue Jays traded 2018 first-round pick Jordan Groshans to the Miami Marlins for two relievers – Zach Pop and Anthony Bass. Included in that trade was a player to be named later, which turned out to be Venezuelan catcher Edward Duran.
This season, Duran has become the best Blue Jays catching prospect in the organization. With the Dunedin Blue Jays, the 21-year-old is slashing .281/.374/.439 with four home runs in 230 plate appearances. Duran has walked 10% of the time with a 21.7 K%.
Defensively, Duran is looking solid, as he’s thrown out 24 batters in 101 attempts, giving him a 23.7 caught stealing percentage, slightly up from his 22.1 CS% last season. One area of improvement has been his blocking, going from 14 passed balls in 2024 to just two in 2025.
