The Toronto Blue Jays organization were so close to an organization sweep.
On Friday, five affiliates were in action, with all four “A” affiliates winning. However, a win streak was snapped, leading to the only loss in the organization, including the big league Blue Jays.
Let’s dig into all of that in the latest Minor League Report!

Buffalo won fourth-straight

The Triple-A Buffalo Bisons have been streaking recently, as they defeated the Syracuse Mets 5-3 to bring their second-half record to 10-15. Moreover, they are on a four-game win streak and aren’t last in the International League anymore.
Will Robertson hit an important home run, his 14th of the season, as he tied the game at three in the bottom of the eighth-inning. The Bisons scored two more runs in the inning for the win. Riley Tirotta hit his ninth double in Triple-A, while Cam Eden hit his 10th home run of the season. Eden and Tirotta each had multi-hit games, as did Phil Clarke, who had two singles. Other players with a single were Gabriel Cancel, Alan Roden, and Miguel Hiraldo
James Kaprielian made the start for the Bisons, pitching three innings and giving up three earned runs. Paxton Schultz also pitched three innings, but didn’t allow an earned run while striking out six. Hayden Juenger pitched a scoreless inning and two thirds, while Brandon Eisert picked up the win, striking out a batter in an inning and a third.

New Hampshire won again

After not scoring for four games, the New Hampshire Fisher Cats have won two straight games, as they defeated the Reading Fightin Phils 7-3. In the second half, the Fisher Cats have a 6-17 record and are nine games behind the division leaders.
They didn’t hit any home runs, but four of the eight hits were doubles. Ryan McCarty hit two doubles (10 on the year), while Garrett Spain and Glenn Santiago each hit a double as well. Spain had a two-hit performance, as did Michael Turconi, who had two singles. Josh Kasevich also had a single.
Trenton Wallace’s great season continued, as he finished with a line of 5 IP, 4 H, 2 ER, 0 BB, 8 K with two home runs given up to move his season ERA to 2.68. Adrián Hernández was the first out of the bullpen, striking out a batter in a clean inning. Braydon Fisher pitched a scoreless inning, while Ryan Boyer struck out two in his inning of work. Jimmy Burnette allowed an earned run in his inning of work.

Vancouver snap losing streak

The Vancouver Canadians were on a three-game losing streak heading into Friday’s game, but defeated the Hillsboro Hops 2-1 to move their second-half record to 18-10.
Vancouver didn’t have a ton of hits, as they had three singles in the game. Robert Brooks, Dasan Brown, and Brennan Orf each had a single. Jackson Hornung and Nick Goodwin also walked once.
Kendry Rojas had a terrific start, finishing with a line of 6 IP, 7 H, 1 ER, 0 BB, 7 K to bring his season ERA at High-A to 2.79. Chay Yeager picked up the win, striking out two in an inning of work. Johnathan Lavallee struck out a batter in a clean inning of work, while Conor Larkin struck out two, also in a clean inning of work.

Dunedin walked off a high scoring affair

The Dunedin Blue Jays walked off the Fort Myers Mighty Mussles, winning 11-10 in 12 innings to move their second-half record to 13-13. They are five games behind the Mighty Mussels.
Arjun Nimmala has been terrific since he was demoted to the FCL Jays, and he hit another home run on Friday, his eighth of the season in the Florida State League. Moreover, Robert Robertis, Cristian Feliz, and Victor Arias all hit a double, with the latter having a three-hit performance. Other players with a hit were Yeuni Munoz, Manuel Beltre, Edward Duran, Braden Barry, and Bryce Arnold.
Fernando Pérez made the start for the D-Jays, allowing three earned runs in two innings and two thirds. Juanmi Vasquez was the first out of the bullpen, and gave up two earned runs in three innings. Bo Bonds had a blown save in his 2.1 innings pitched, giving up an earned run but striking out four.
Elainder Alcalde pitched three innings, giving up an earned run (three total runs) while striking out two. Yondrei Rojas picked up the win, giving up an unearned run while striking out two in  an inning of work.

DSL Jays win streak snapped

The only thing separating the Blue Jays from an organization sweep on Friday was the Dominican Summer League Jays, who were riding a seven-game winning streak coming into the game. Unfortunately, the DSL Jays lost 9-3 to the DSL Cardinals to move to 21-15 for the season.
Yorman Licourt hit the team’s only extra-base hit, his seventh double of the season. Dariel Ramon and Franklin Rojas each had two singles, while Pascual Archila, Rafael Flores, Angel Guzmán, Randy Soto, and David Beckles each hit a single.
Sann Omosako made the start and had a rough outing, finishing with a line of 4.1 IP, 8 H, 4 ER, 0 BB, 0 K while giving up two home runs to bring his season ERA to 2.35. Josue Loreto allowed an earned run (two total runs) in his two innings of work, while Diego Dominguez gave up three earned runs in an inning and a third. Geremy Barroso struck out the only batter he faced.
