Last night, Grayson Thurman and Aaron Munson pitched back-to-back for the Vancouver Canadians. Thought that was pretty cool.

This week marks the final series of the regular season for the two lower-minor teams.
On Friday, three teams were in action with four games played. Unfortunately, the Buffalo Bisons’ game against the Lehigh Valley IronPigs was cancelled, while the Dunedin Blue Jays had a doubleheader.
Let’s dig into what happened in the latest Minor League Report!
New Hampshire fell 3-1
The rough season for the New Hampshire Fisher Cats is nearly over, as their season wraps up next Sunday. On Friday, they played the Portland Sea Dogs, falling 3-1 to the Boston Red Sox affiliate to bring their second-half record to 21-39.
Garrett Spain hit his 11th home run of the season, while Dasan Brown hit his sixth double in Double-A. Ryan McCarty had the team’s other two hits, and Brown and Charles McAdoo walked once each. It’s hard to win when you strike out 15 times, which is exactly what happened in this game.
The Sea Dogs scored all three runs in one inning. After pitching four scoreless innings with one hit, Abdiel Mendoza was unable to get an out in the fifth inning, giving up three runs in the process. Hunter Gregory was the first pitcher out of the bullpen, striking out four in two innings pitched. Anders Tolhurst also pitched two scoreless innings, striking out five. Andrew Bechtold struck out a batter in his inning of work.
Vancouver shut out
Wins and losses don’t really matter for the Canadians the rest of the week, as they’ll play Spokane in the Northwest League Championship Series starting next Tuesday. Still, gaining momentum heading into next week’s finals is ideal, and a 3-0 loss to the Eugene Emeralds isn’t ideal.
Kendry Rojas had an excellent start despite the loss, as he finished with a line of 6 IP, 1 H, 1 ER, 0 BB, 6 K with a lone solo home run being the only hit allowed. Grayson Thurman gave up two earned runs in an inning, while Aaron Munson allowed two walks in an inning pitched. Kai Peterson allowed a walk, a hit, and struck out a batter in an inning of work.
The Canadians had six hits in the game, with Adrian Pinto and Jacob Sharp each hitting a double. Jackson Hornung, Nicolas Deschamps, Je’Von Ward, and Bryce Arnold all hit singles as well. Marcos De La Rosa walked twice.
Dunedin swept the doubleheader
The Dunedin Blue Jays played two games on Friday, winning the first one 10-6 and the second one 5-1.
Starting with the first game, the D-Jays had seven hits, all of which were singles. Sean Keys had three of those hits, while Nick Mitchell, Arjun Nimmala, Edward Duran, and Tucker Toman had singles.
Gage Stanifer made the start prior to the postponment, failing to retire an out and giving up an earned run. Cristopher Castro started the game when it resumed, striking out two and walking three in two innings of work. Jay Schueler allowed two earned runs and four walks in two innings pitched. Colby Martin also allowed two earned runs in an inning and struck out three. Christian Mracna walked three and gave up an unearned run in an inning and a third.
Game two saw the D-Jays win 5-1, bringing their second-half record to 33-29. Carter Cunningham hit his second professional home run, while Yhoangel Aponte hit his sixth home run of the season. Aaron Parker hit another double, while Arjun Nimmala hit his sixth triple of the season.
For his next trick, @cartercunnin will make a ball disappear (over the right field wall) 🪄 A 4⃣2⃣1⃣ foot shot for Cunningham pushes the lead to 4-1!
Daniel Guerra started the game, giving up an earned run and four walks, while striking out three in four innings of work. Nate Garkow picked up the win, pitching two innings and striking out four, while Jonathan Todd struck out two to end the game.
