The Toronto Blue Jays will be looking to avoid a fourth straight loss when they host the Boston Red Sox at Rogers Centre on Wednesday night.
Boston cruised to a 10-2 victory in the series opener Tuesday to notch a third straight victory and hand Toronto its eighth loss in the last nine games.
Despite Tuesday’s loss, Toronto still leads the season series with Boston, 3-2.
Let’s take a look at the game odds for Wednesday’s clash between the Red Sox and Blue Jays courtesy of bet365.

About the Red Sox (17-14 SU, 16-15 ATS, 15-15-1 o/u)
The Red Sox launched five long balls off Blue Jays starter Bowden Francis on Tuesday to now lead the majors with 142 runs scored in April. Additionally, the Red Sox now have 12 three-run homers through 31 games after hitting just 19 all of last season. Wilyer Abreu and Rafael Devers have both homered in back-to-back games, and Alex Bregman also homered Tuesday to increase his team-leading total to six on the season.
Toronto pitchers have surrendered 42 homers this season, the most in the majors.
About the Blue Jays (13-16 SU, 17-12 ATS, 11-18 o/u)
The Blue Jays have gone 11 straight games without scoring more than four runs, their worst streak since 2001. They were held to just four hits Tuesday, with the only damage coming off the bat of Vladimir Guerrero Jr., who blasted his third homer of the season. Bo Bichette also had a good game, recording a pair of hits and a stolen base.
Francis was horrific on the mound for Toronto on Tuesday, coughing up five homers and seven runs over three innings.
Daulton Varsho went hitless in his first game of the season after dealing with a shoulder injury, but he did make his presence felt with an absolutely incredible catch in centre field in the fourth inning.
Probable starting pitchers
Boston: RHP Lucas Giolito (no record)
Giolito will be activated from the injured list to make his Red Sox debut in this contest. The right-hander signed with Boston in January of 2024 but never suited up that season due to an elbow injury. He then suffered a hamstring strain this spring, which landed him back on the injured list, so it’s been a long road to recovery for him. He posted an ugly 5.19 ERA across five rehab appearances in the minors, and he hasn’t pitched in a big league game since Oct. 1, 2023. From a betting perspective, Giolito is a huge wild card in this spot, and it wouldn’t be surprising if he lasts only a few innings and struggles mightily.
Toronto: TBD. The Blue Jays are planning on throwing a bullpen game.
Notable injuries
Pitchers Richard Fitts (pectoral), Kutter Crawford (knee), and Patrick Sandoval (elbow) are all on the injured list for the Red Sox. Catcher Connor Wong (finger) and outfielder/designated hitter Masataka Yoshida (shoulder) are also on the shelf.
Pitchers Ryan Burr (shoulder), Erik Swanson (forearm), Nick Sandlin (lat), and Max Scherzer (thumb) are all on the injured list for the Blue Jays.
Weather
It’s still too cold in the Toronto area to be playing outdoor baseball, so the retractable roof at Rogers Centre will be closed.
Red Sox vs. Blue Jays betting trends
- The over is 6-1 in Boston’s last seven games.
- The Red Sox have covered the first five innings runline in 10 of their last 13 games.
- The under is 9-2 in the past 11 meetings between these teams.
Red Sox vs. Blue Jays player prop trends
- Bregman has hit safely in nine straight games and is -210 to extend that streak. He’s also exceeded his line of 1.5 hits + runs + RBIs in nine straight games and is around -115 to extend that streak.
- As previously stated, both Devers and Abreu have homered in back-to-back games. Devers is around +300 to deep, while Abreu has longer +400 odds.
- Red Sox second baseman Kristian Campbell has doubled in three consecutive games and is +425 to do it again Wednesday.
Red Sox vs. Blue Jays best bets
- Red Sox team total over 4.5 runs: -118 for one unit (best odds @ Pinnacle). We easily cashed this bet at more lucrative +115 odds Tuesday, and there’s no reason to believe Boston’s recent offensive success won’t continue on Wednesday against Toronto’s mediocre bullpen, which will be counted on to fill some big innings in this spot. The Red Sox have scored a whopping 30 runs over their last three games, and boast a .905 team OPS with 12 home runs over the last seven days.
- Bregman over 1.5 hits + runs + RBIs: -110 for one unit (best odds @ Sports Interaction). Bregman, who is coming off a three-hit performance Tuesday, has cleared this line in nine straight games, and is slashing .440/.500/.760 with seven runs scored and four RBIs over the last seven days.
