Probable starting pitchers

Toronto: RHP Jose Berrios (7-4, 3.83 ERA, 7.65 K/9)
Berrios has struggled in five starts this month (6.12 ERA), but he is coming off a solid outing against the Detroit Tigers, who managed just two runs on five hits over six innings against him. Back in March, the Orioles tagged Berrios for six runs on nine hits over five innings of work en route to a 12-2 victory. Players currently on the Baltimore roster have a combined .309/.356/.553 slash line against Berrios over 188 at-bats.
Baltimore: RHP Dean Kremer (8-7, 4.23 ERA, 7.34 K/9)
Kremer is coming off a rough outing against the lowly Colorado Rockies, who managed five runs on six hits over six innings against him. However, the right-hander has been good this season at Camden Yards, posting a 5-2 record with a 2.65 ERA across seven starts. He’s pitched once against Toronto this year, allowing five runs on five hits over 5 1/3 innings.

Notable injuries

Catcher Alejandro Kirk (concussion), infielder Andres Gimenez (ankle), outfielder Anthony Santander (shoulder), outfielder Daulton Varsho (hamstring), pitcher Yimi Garcia (ankle), and pitcher Bowden Francis are all on the injured list for Toronto. Outfielders George Springer (head) and Joey Loperfido (thumb) are day-to-day.
Pitcher Grayson Rodriguez (lat/elbow), pitcher Albert Suarez (shoulder), pitcher Kyle Bradish (elbow), and first baseman Ryan Mountcastle are on the IL for Baltimore.

Weather

It’s going to be another incredibly hot day in Baltimore, with daytime temperatures expected to reach 35 C under sunny skies. Winds will blow out to left field at 5 mph.

Blue Jays vs. Orioles betting trends

  • The over is 8-2 in the past 10 meetings between these two teams.
  • The Blue Jays have the best record (64-45) on the runline in the majors this season.
  • The over is 7-3 in Baltimore’s last 10 games.
  • The Blue Jays have hit the team total over in 34 of their last 54 games.

Blue Jays vs. Orioles player prop trends

  • Tyler O’Neill has homered in four of his last five games and is +260 to go deep on Wednesday. He has two homers in 12 career at-bats against Berrios.
  • Kremer has recorded four or more strikeouts in three straight games and eight of his last 10. He’s -150 to record over 3.5 strikeouts against Toronto, which strikes out only an average of 6.65 times per game (best in the majors).
  • Vladimir Guerrero Jr. has drawn at least one walk in five straight games and is +135 to do it again.
  • Springer has scored at least one run in nine straight games and is -125 to plate at least once. He’ll be a game-time decision after taking a pitch to the head earlier this week.

Blue Jays vs. Orioles best bets

  • Adley Rutschman over 1.5 total bases: +135 for one unit (best odds @ bet365). The Orioles catcher is 4-for-9 since returning from the injured list and has beaten this line in both of his games back against Toronto. Additionally, his career splits against Berrios are absolutely incredible, boasting a .536 batting average and 1.603 OPS with four homers and six RBIs in 28 career at-bats against Toronto’s starting pitcher. Rutschman has feasted on Toronto pitching this season, producing a .324/.361/.735 slash line with three homers and eight RBIs in 34 at-bats. He’s recorded over 1.5 total bases in four straight games and five of his last six against Toronto.
  • Orioles team total over 4.5 runs: -115 for one unit (best odds @ Pinnacle). The Orioles have averaged a whopping 10.6 runs per game over their five-game winning streak and have exceeded this number in five of their last six games. As previously mentioned, Baltimore’s current roster has historically really beat up on Berrios with a combined .910 OPS, and the hot and humid weather conditions should favour the batters in this afternoon game at this hitter-friendly ballpark.
