The surging Toronto Blue Jays will be looking for a ninth consecutive win when they open a three-game series with the White Sox in Chicago on Monday night.
Toronto has vaulted into the top spot in the American League East standings with its current winning streak, which includes sweeps of both the Los Angeles Angels and New York Yankees.
Chicago, meanwhile, took two of three from the Colorado Rockies over the weekend. That series win comes on the heels of a sweep at the hands of the mighty Los Angeles Dodgers.
Let’s take a look at the game odds for Monday’s series opener between the Blue Jays and White Sox courtesy of bet365.

About the Blue Jays (52-38 SU, 53-37 ATS, 48-40-2 o/u)
The Blue Jays are firing on all cylinders right now, and they’ll have a very good chance to keep rolling with three upcoming games against the lowly White Sox, although Chicago took two of three games from Toronto last month.
MLB All-Star rosters were revealed on Sunday, and Vladimir Guerrero Jr. and Alejandro Kirk will be representing Toronto at next week’s Midsummer Classic in Atlanta. George Springer, who owns an .886 OPS with 16 homers and 53 RBIs, was a notable AL snub, although there’s still a chance he’s named as a replacement for injured players in the coming days.
About the White Sox (30-60 SU, 50-40 ATS, 38-48-4 o/u)
The White Sox are already looking ahead to next season, as they enter this contest an embarrassing 30 games below .500. This team flat out stinks offensively, averaging 3.5 runs per game (27th in the majors), while ranking last or second to last in team batting average (.222, 30th), slugging percentage (.346, 29th), and OPS (.642, 30th).
The picture isn’t much rosier from a pitching perspective, as the White Sox rank towards the back of the pack in most statistical categories. They also own the 25th-worst fielding percentage (.983) in the majors.
Probable starting pitchers
Toronto: RHP Jose Berrios (4-3, 3.64 ERA, 7.79 K/9)
Berrios was bombed for six runs on nine hits over 4 1/3 innings against the Yankees last time out, but he had held the opposition scoreless in three of his four previous starts. He tossed 7 2/3 innings of one-run ball against the White Sox just a few weeks ago while striking out five. The veteran right-hander has been exceptional on the road this season, posting a 3.02 ERA while holding opponents to a .236 batting average.
Chicago: RHP Sean Burke (4-7, 4.03 ERA, 7.55 K/9)
Burke has allowed one earned run or less in three consecutive starts, but his advanced metrics suggest he’s been relatively lucky to post his mediocre numbers this season. The 26-year-old righty has a 5.13 xERA and .264 xBA this season, and he ranks below league average in chase rate, strikeout rate, walk rate, and barrel percentage. However, he’ll have the element of surprise in this matchup, as not a single player on Toronto’s roster has a previous at-bat against him.
Notable injuries
Infielder Andres Gimenez (ankle), outfielder Anthony Santander (shoulder), outfielder Daulton Varsho (hamstring), and pitchers Yimi Garcia (ankle) and Bowden Francis (shoulder) are on the injured list for Toronto.
Outfielder Luis Robert (hamstring) and pitchers Jared Shuster (finger), Martin Perez (elbow), and Cam Booser (shoulder) are on the IL for Chicago.
Weather
Forecasts are calling for pleasant temperatures around 22 C under clear skies this evening in Chicago. Winds will blow from left field to right field at 9 mph.
Blue Jays vs. White Sox betting trends
- These two teams played under the total in all three of their previous matchups this season in Toronto back in June.
- Toronto owns the best record on the runline (53-37 ATS) in the majors.
- The under is 8-1 in Chicago’s last nine games.
- The White Sox are 25-18 on the runline at home this season.
Blue Jays vs. White Sox player prop trends
- Burke has recorded four or more strikeouts in eight straight starts and 12 of his 17 this season (71%). He’s -140 to record over 3.5 strikeouts against the Blue Jays, who strike out the least per game (6.72) in the majors.
- Brooks Baldwin and Mike Tauchman each have four-game hitting streaks heading into this contest. Baldwin is -125 to get a hit; Tauchman is -175.
- Bo Bichette has struck out at least once in three straight games and seven of his last 10. He’s -140 to strike out in this contest.
Blue Jays vs. White Sox best bets
- George Springer over 1.5 total bases: +100 for one unit (best odds @ NorthStar Bets). Springer should be pissed off about his All-Star snub and take out his frustrations on the lowly White Sox on Monday night. Additionally, he’s smoking the ball in general right now, posting a ridiculous .449/.509/.816 slash line with a 1.325 OPS over the last 15 days. Springer has bested this mark in five of his last six games, and he has four hits in nine at-bats (.444 average) against the White Sox this season.
- Blue Jays runline: +105 for one unit (best odds @ bet365). Getting plus money on the Blue Jays, the team with the best record on the runline in the majors this season, to win by two or more in this spot is great value, especially considering the momentum they have coming into this series. Back Toronto to push its winning streak to nine games in convincing fashion.
