More pointless roster transactions! Jacob Waguespack, Thomas Pannone, and Santiago Espinal optioned to Triple-A

I still have no idea what the deal with these random transactions are, but, here we go again. The Blue Jays have reportedly sent Jacob Waguespack, Thomas Pannone, and Santiago Espinal to Triple-A Buffalo.
About a week ago, the Jays announced that Sean Reid-Foley and Anthony Kay had been sent to Triple-A, so this leaves the team with 30 players on their active roster. That list of 30 players doesn’t include non-roster invitees on minor-league deals, like A.J. Cole, Marc Rzepczynski, and Nate Pearson, who are all still technically at camp.
We’re starting to get pretty close to what you’d expect Toronto’s 26-man Opening Day roster to look like. That said, given the fact we’re likely going to see a shortened season due to the COVID-19 pandemic, MLB could opt to allow teams to operate with a larget active roster than usual this season to compensate for an increased number of games in a shorter timespan.
I don’t think this really means much, but the fact that Pannone went down likely bodes well for Rzepczynski to become the team’s bullpen lefty when the season gets started, if it does, of course.
