Canadian high-school pitcher Sean Duncan has committed to the notorious Vanderbilt University. Duncan’s profile and development have sparked noise across baseball in Canada and the United States.
Duncan had recently displayed a great deal of talent on Canadian home turf in Toronto. The lefty chucked off the Rogers Center bump in the 2024 Canadian Futures Showcase. He grabbed the attention of various scouts and evaluators.
Duncan was on the map already, being a part of the Canadian Junior National Team. The Canadian is from Port Coquitlam, British Columbia. He currently plays for the Langley Blaze travel team. Duncan was also a part of the Brewers Canada Scout Team.

The Notorious Vanderbilt Commodores Program

The black and gold pinstripes have been heavy hitters within NCAA and college baseball for years. The Nashville baseball militia is guided by a veteran leader, head coach Tim Corbin. Coach Corbin is in his 22nd year of Vandy-Boys baseball.
Vanderbilt has two NCAA tournament championships: 2014 and 2019. They have five College World Series appearances and two runner-ups. From David Price, Sonny Gray, and Dansby Swanson to Jack Leiter, Kumar Rocker, and Walker Buehler, Vanderbilt can pick them and place them.
The Vandy program is extremely established and everything is pristine, from the talent to the uniforms to the facilities. Cooper Davis was another Canadian who earned the opportunity to live the Vanderbilt luxury. He was later drafted in 2017 by the Blue Jays. Duncan will be next up from north of the border.

What does Duncan offer the Vandy-Boys?

The lefty appears undersized, but his metrics make up for it.  The southpaw shows nothing but strength and durability on the bump. His repeated delivery and projectable output puts him at a phenomenal development baseline.
His biting four-seam fastball touches corners and tops 93 mph, sitting constantly 90-92. His out-pitch is a heavy sinker sitting 92 mph with deviation. He also throws a slider in the low 70s and early-80s changeup that floats low.
His pitchability is exceptional, and his current baseline profile will be highly useful in college. His room for development is beyond reasonable and he projects well on the hill. He has an IQ on the field and can set the tone with his counts.
Duncan projects well as a successful college pitcher, and he shows attributes of being a professional contender. His command is satisfactory and he shows a high level of confidence in his off-speed. Duncan is still raw with regards to his delivery and finish. His overall makeup is competitive. Being a lefty makes his profile more demanding. College will be the winning route for Duncan for future top-tier draft pick positions.
This Canadian arm will be one to keep track of in college baseball.
