The two sides met in California for an introductory meeting, with one source describing it to McAdam as &#8220;productive.&#8221; Those in attendance from the Red Sox organization included president Sam Kennedy, chairman Tom Werner, chief baseball officer Craig Breslow and manager Alex Cora.
During the meeting, which lasted roughly three hours, Boston&#8217;s front office presented Soto and his agent, Scott Boras, with a video documenting the franchise&#8217;s rich history of Dominican-born star players. They also outlined the expectations for their current competitive window, highlighting the timeline for one of baseball&#8217;s most talented farm systems.
The Red Sox&#8217;s brass also provided a detailed info package for the financial plan from Fenway Sports Group, which owns the franchise, as well as many other entities such as the NHL&#8217;s Pittsburgh Penguins and Premier League’s Liverpool club.
Soto inquired about management&#8217;s commitment to winning, how they evaluate player and team performance, the history of Fenway Park and the quality of its facilities.

Since the intent of this meeting was based on gathering information, the Red Sox and Soto&#8217;s camp didn&#8217;t discuss contract details, nor did they present him with a formal offer, as McAdam wrote.
Other teams that have scheduled visits with the four-time All-Star include the Toronto Blue Jays, New York Yankees and Mets.
