The Toronto Blue Jays appear to have found their guy.
According to Rob Longley at the Toronto Sun, Sportsnet analyst and former big league catcher Joe Siddall will be replacing the recently retired Buck Martinez in the Jays’ broadcast booth. It is expected that he will join Dan Shulman, who works as the Jays’ play-by-play commentator.
Sportsnet has yet to announce the full lineup for the 2026 season, which will see Hazel Mae return as the sideline reporter and likely see Ben Shulman and Chris Leroux back in the radio booth. Longley reports that Caleb Joseph will backfill any games for Shulman and Siddall.
Blue Jays fans are no strangers to the Windsor, Ont. product, who has been a familiar face in the organization since 2014. He worked alongside Jerry Howarth in the radio booth for four seasons before sliding over into the television side, joining Blue Jays Central, where he provides additional insight and commentary on Jays games.
Since 2023, Siddall has also been filling in for Martinez when he has been away on leave over the past couple of seasons. Siddall was a clear favourite to join the broadcast booth after hearing of Martinez’s retirement, given his familiarity with the organization and his stand-in duties. The Ontario product has received strong reviews for his work on Blue Jays Central, who will now be looking for another analyst alongside Joseph and Jaime Campbell on the program.
Signed by the Montreal Expos as a free agent in 1987, the big league backstop appeared in 73 games across four seasons, which included stops in Florida (Marlins) and Detroit. Through 142 at-bats, he crafted a .169/.244/.222 slash line with a /.469 OPS.
