Ricky Tiedemann is back on the mound.
The Toronto Blue Jays#4-ranked prospect has been on the IL since Spring Training with an elbow injury, and the organization has been cautious with his return. Tiedemann started doing bullpen segments last week and officially got into game action earlier today, making the start for the FCL Blue Jays against the FCL Tigers.
Across one inning of work, he allowed two hits and one earned run while striking out two.
Tiedemann started the outing on a rough note, giving up a double to Patrick Lee to put a runner on second with zero outs. The Jays starter bounced back to put an out on the board, needing just three pitches to strike out Cris Rodriguez on a swinging K. Rodriguez chased a pitch high in the zone to return to the dugout. The Tigers would put a run on the board a batter later, with Angel De Los Santos doubling to left field, scoring the runner from second.
The 23-year-old would get a groundout back to the pitcher for the next out, putting two on the board. The runner would advance to third on a stolen base, but Tiedemann would strand the base threat with his second punchout. He would finish the day facing just five batters as he gets some innings under his belt.
Tiedemann hasn’t pitched since 2024, with the left-hander missing all of 2025 due to injury. When healthy, the California product is downright dominant on the mound, owning a 14.5 K/9 and a 3.02 ERA across three minor league seasons. The expectation is that Tiedemann will eventually head to Buffalo when he is in the clear, giving the Jays some additional pitching depth in the upper portion of the minor leagues.
