The Blue Jays are in Philadelphia this weekend to play the shockingly-good Phillies who sit second in the National League East with a 28-19 record.

It’ll be Young Sam remaining in the rotation rather than Joe Biagini which makes sense given the fact the latter has been, uh, not good as a starter. Gaviglio had a strong start last weekend against Oakland spoiled when the bullpen allowed five runs in the eighth inning. He’ll go up against Zach Eflin who’s been excellent through three starts so far this season. Through 17 1/3 innings, the former fist-round pick has allowed just three earned runs.

Jaime Garcia will make his much-anticipated return from the 10-day disabled list (a trip he took for left arm shittyness) against Aaron Nola. Garcia has been bad this year and doesn’t have a quality start since his season-opener against the shitty White Sox. Nola, on the other hand, has been extremely good this year. He owns a 2.37 ERA for the season and a four-run outing last time out snapped a streak in which he put together seven quality starts in a row.

Jays Ace Happ will take the mound in the finale on Sunday against his former team. It seems like a lifetime ago, but Happ was a member of the World Series winning Phillies back in 2008. Now he’s Toronto’s only consistently-good starting pitcher. Happ has made back-to-back excellent starts in which he’s scattered two earned runs on five hits over 14 combined innings. He’ll go against Canadian Nick Pivetta who, like everyone else in the Phillies rotation, seems to be enjoying a breakout season. He’s allowed just one earned run over his last two starts.
