The Toronto Blue Jays are the 91st most valuable sports franchise in the world at $1.97 billion, according to Sportico’s 2024 valuation rankings.
That ranks Canada’s lone MLB franchise at 13th in the sport, the same position they held in 2023. Notable teams ahead of them include AL East Division rivals like the New York Yankees ($7.13 billion, first) and Boston Red Sox ($5.21 billion, third).
It’s worth noting the Texas Rangers – valued at $1.93 billion – finished just behind the Blue Jays at 92nd worldwide, 14th in baseball.
Sportico revealed Toronto’s franchise, owned by Rogers Communications, earned $335 million in revenue last year.
Rogers Communications purchased an 80-per-cent stake in the Blue Jays for $165 million in September 2000, while Belgian brewer Interbrew SA retained a 20-per-cent share. The company bought the remaining 20 per cent four years later, as well as the club’s stadium, formerly known as the SkyDome – now Rogers Centre.
Sportsnet, the Blue Jays’ exclusive television and radio broadcaster, is also owned by Rogers Communications.
Forbes, in comparison, valued the franchise at $2.1 billion – 14th most valuable in MLB – during its annual franchise valuations in March 2023.
