Owen Carapellotti hits another home run as Dunedin Blue Jays fall in the season finale

The minor league season is rapidly coming to an end.
On Sunday afternoon, the Toronto Blue Jays Single-A affiliate, the Dunedin Blue Jays, played their final game of the 2026 season. Unfortunately, they couldn’t end it in style, giving up two late runs in a 4-3 loss. They end their full-season with a 62-66 record, but a 32-31 record in the second-half.
In the game itself, catcher Owen Carapellotti hit his seventh home run since joining the Blue Jays organization via trade. Over 22 games, the 23-year-old slashed .222/.341/.642 with seven home runs in just 85 plate appearances, with a high K% of 29.4%. Adding his games in the Athletics’ organization, Carapellotti hit 15 home runs in 196 plate appearances, an absurd rate.
Josh Rivera also hit a home run in what was a rehab outing. Acquired alongside Yohendrick Piñango in the Nate Pearson trade, Rivera was slashing .214/.282/.373 with 10 home runs in 356 plate appearances with the Triple-A Buffalo Bisons before the injury.
Carapellotti is one of a few standouts with the D-Jays this season. Aldo Gaxiola also had a solid breakout season, hitting 18 home runs in 369 plate appearances. Blaine Bullard cooled off in the second half and finished his season slashing .245/.327/.365. Jake Cook’s season was okay, hitting five home runs but posting a worrisome 28.4 K%.
Up one level, the High-A Vancouver Canadians fell 6-2 to the Tri-City Dust Devils in their final game of the regular season. Ryan Sprock, another catcher the Blue Jays acquired via mid-season trade, hit his sixth home run since joining the organization. He along with JoJo Parker and Austin Smith had a two hit game, with Parker hitting his sixth double since joining the C’s.
On the mound, Canadian southpaw Connor O’Halloran threw four scoreless innings, giving him a High-A ERA of 3.63. It was a nice bounce-back season after missing all but six and two-thirds innings in 2025.
While the C’s regular season has concluded, they clinched their fourth Northwest League Championship Series in their past five seasons earlier this week. Game 1 against the Eugene Emeralds is on Tuesday at 10:05 PM ET at the Nat. Dasan Hill is set to start.
The Double-A New Hampshire Fisher Cats have one more week remaining after defeating the Binghamton Rumble Ponies 7-6 on Sunday. Even better was how they won, as they entered the top of the ninth down 6-1, before plating six for the victory.
Alexis Hernandez hit the team’s lone home run, while Dub Gleed, Carter Cunningham, and Aaron Parker all hit a double. Austin Cates started the game, striking out five over five innings of two-run ball. Gage Stanifer walked a batter and struck out four in a scoreless inning. Stanifer will begin this week in Triple-A.
As for the Bisons, they defeated the Worcester Red Sox. Like the Fisher Cats, the Bisons overcame a huge lead thanks to a huge inning, scoring seven in the seventh to turn a 7-1 deficit into an 8-7 lead and a win.
Jay Harry hit his sixth home run at the level, while Lenyn Sosa hit his first home run since joining the Bisons. Ismael Munguia hit two doubles, but was released following the game. On the mound, Daniel Guerrero fired a scoreless inning with two walks and a strikeout, while Chad Dallas’ scoreless inning earned him a hold.
The Bisons head to North Carolina to take on the Charlotte Knights starting Tuesday, while the Fisher Cats wrap up their season hosting the Harrisburg Senators.
