In less than four months, the Toronto Blue Jays will be playing baseball again.
On Wednesday afternoon, the Blue Jays announced their Spring Training schedule. It features 28 games from late February through late March, a tune-up game against a national team, and the third annual Spring Breakout.
The Blue Jays’ first Spring Training game is on February 21 against the Philadelphia Phillies. They’ll play four split-squad games, their first on February 25 against the Detroit Tigers. They also play the New York Yankees and Phillies on February 28, the Tigers and Baltimore Orioles on March 8, and the Yankees on March 19.
On March 3, the Blue Jays will play an exhibition game against Team Canada. This comes two days before the start of the World Baseball Classic, with Canada in a group against Colombia, Panama, Cuba, and Puerto Rico. Canada’s first game is on March 7 at 11:00 AM ET against Colombia.
Towards the end of Spring Training, the Blue Jays will participate in the third annual Spring Breakout, this time facing off against the Phillies on March 21. There’s a strong chance this will be the first time we’ll see JoJo Parker in action, the Blue Jays’ first-round pick in the 2025 draft.
The Blue Jays’ final game of the season is on March 22 in a matchup against the Tampa Bay Rays. The real thing begins four days later, as the Blue Jays open the season against the Athletics on March 26. It’s an easy start to the season, facing the Athletics and Colorado Rockies at home, before heading to Chicago to face the White Sox.
After falling in seven games to the Los Angeles Dodgers in the World Series, it’s going to be a long off-season for the Blue Jays. Hopefully, they can add a few notable pieces in free agency. Shane Bieber opting into his player option is a good start, but re-signing Bo Bichette is paramount for the Blue Jays.
