The ALDS is quickly approaching, and Blue Jays fans have never been more confident.
Now, they know their opponent: the New York Yankees. After shutting out the Red Sox 4–0 in Game 3 of the Wild Card series, the Yankees head North of the border to begin a five-game showdown with the Blue Jays. This AL East rivalry has been brewing ever since Toronto stole the division lead back in July.
This series is destined to be one for the ages. But how do Blue Jays fans feel about facing their longtime division rivals in the first round?
During the Blue Jays’ intersquad game on Thursday, we walked the concourse to ask some of the team’s most passionate fans one simple question: “What’s one thing you have to say to the New York Yankees (or Boston Red Sox)?”
They didn’t hold back.
“We’re not afraid of you. None of you.” That’s what one die-hard fan said. A Blue Jays fan who’s been around since the championship years in ’92 and ’93. “We’ve already proven we can beat you. And this weekend will be no different.”
The numbers back it up – Toronto took the season series against the Yankees 8–5, including a dominant 6–1 record at Rogers Centre, including a sweep that had the broadcast staff going back and forth.
Another fan summed it up simply: “[The Jays] took the season series. So I feel comfortable.”
Some fans leaned into the rivalry with a sense of fun. One fan grinned as they put on sunglasses: “Yankees, I got one thing for ya… BRING IT.”
Others didn’t shy away from criticizing the Yankees’ recent form: “Just keep making errors and sitting your best players. No worries about it, Aaron.”
That jab was aimed squarely at Yankees manager Aaron Boone for his puzzling decision to bench 30/30 player Jazz Chisholm Jr. in Game 1 of the Wild Card series against Boston, a move that left fans and analysts scratching their heads. And it wasn’t just questionable lineups. The Yankees were also sloppy on defense all season, finishing with the 8th most errors in MLB (averaging 0.58 per game).

Even the kids were fired up.
When we asked one young fan what he had to say to the Yankees, he paused for eight long seconds, then finally said: “You suck.” He glanced at his mom, grinning. “I was going to say something else… but I can’t say it.”
Some fans came to roast the Yankees… But with rhymes:
“Aaron Judge.
Chocolate Fudge.
Glasses Smudged.
Jays in 3.”
Chocolate Fudge.
Glasses Smudged.
Jays in 3.”
Most fans kept it short and sharp: “Be ready.” “Just be prepared.” “You’re going down.”
They know what’s coming… and they believe the Yankees have no idea what they’re in for. Toronto is locked in. The fans are loud. And the Blue Jays?
They’re ready.
