The Toronto Blue Jays are on a roll.
Over the last eight days, the Blue Jays have won eight games. After winning the rubber match against the Boston Red Sox on June 29, they returned home and swept the New York Yankees in a four-game series, then they swept the Los Angeles Angels in a three-game series.
Toronto starts a six-game road trip on Monday against the Chicago White Sox. It’s a three-game series, and the Jays have a chance to enact some revenge, as their last series loss came against the basement dwellers in June.
Looking at the lineup, Nathan Lukes leads off, followed by the American League play of the week winner, George Springer. Vladimir Guerrero Jr. had a strong series against the Angels and bats third. The middle third has Bo Bichette batting cleanup, Addison Barger batting fifth, and Alejandro Kirk batting sixth. Monday’s bottom third has Will Wagner, Ernie Clement, and Joey Loperfido.
José Berríos gets the start on Monday, and his last time out was a weird one. He was cruising after four innings but allowed six earned runs in the fifth. Before that, he pitched 14.2 innings without giving up an earned run, seven and two-thirds of which were against the White Sox in their only win of that series.
If the Blue Jays can win, their nine-game winning streak would be the highest since the 2015 season when they won 11 straight. They had an eight-game streak in 2021 and 2022.
Let’s set up Monday evening’s game!
