Spring Training is just around the corner.
With all four big free agent bats off the market, attention has turned to the beginning of the 2026 season. The first step to the season is Spring Training, with Toronto Blue Jays pitchers and catchers reporting on Feb. 11, and the full squad on Feb. 16.
On Wednesday afternoon, the Blue Jays announced they’ve invited 20 non-roster players to Spring Training. This includes eight pitchers, four catchers, seven infielders, and just one outfielder. The list is below:
C Edward Duran
C Robert Brooks
C Aaron Parker
C Geovanny Planchart
OF RJ Schreck
INF Arjun Nimmala
INF Sean Keys
INF Riley Tirotta
IN Charles McAdoo
INF Cutter Coffey
INF Josh Rivera
INF Josh Kasevich
RHP Chay Yeager
RHP Yariel Rodríguez
RHP Gage Stanifer
RHP Chad Dallas
RHP CJ Van Eyk
RHP Fernando Perez
RHP Ryan Jennings
LHP Javen Coleman
One familiar face who was invited to Spring Training is Yariel Rodríguez. Last season with the Blue Jays, the Cuban right-handed pitcher posted a 3.08 ERA and 4.40 FIP in 73 innings pitched. The 28-year-old had a rough postseason and was outrighted to the Triple-A Buffalo Bisons, hence why he’s not on their 40-man roster.
Of the 20 players who received an invite, Rodríguez is the lone player with big league experience. Had Chad Dallas remained healthy, he was seen as a potential depth starter for the big league team, but he missed the entire season. Such was the case for Josh Kasevich, as he appeared in just 42 games after stop-and-start rehab assignments.
As you likely remember, the Blue Jays made numerous selling moves ahead of the 2024 trade deadline. Well, four of the 20 players were prospects acquired at that point. The most notable of the bunch is RJ Schreck, who was acquired in the Justin Turner deal and slashed .249/.395/.459 with 18 home runs in 427 plate appearances between Double-A and Triple-A. Cutter Coffey, Charlie McAdoo, and Josh Rivera join him.
If you’re wondering about another prospect acquired at the 2024 trade deadline, Yohendrick Piñango, he was briefly a minor league free agent, but re-signed with the Jays and already received his invite to Spring Training, according to The Athletic’s Mitch Bannon.

Yohendrick Pinango is among the #BlueJays prospects at MLB camp. He was a minor-league free agent (after 6 milb seasons) this fall, and elected to re-sign with Toronto to a milb deal with an invite to MLB camp in October, so not on this specific list.

There are also two top five prospects who’ve earned a non-roster invite: Gage Stanifer and Arjun Nimmala. The latter, Nimmala, was the Jays’ first round pick in 2023, had a great start to his year in High-A before his production dipped. Stanifer, drafted 19th overall in 2022, had a breakout season, authoring a 2.86 ERA and 2.70 FIP in 110 innings pitched, all while finishing top 10 in minor league strikeouts.
Other prospects who had a breakout year were catcher Edward Duran, pitcher Ryan Jennings, and left-handed reliever Javen Coleman. The latter in particular is interesting, as he was signed as a non-drafted free agent after the 2024 draft, and went on to post a 3 ERA and 2.46 FIP in 54 innings pitched, along with a 38.1 K% and 10.3 BB%. His numbers with the High-A Vancouver Canadians improved quite a lot, finishing the year with a 1.40 ERA and 1.15 FIP in 25.2 innings with the team, while his BB% dropped to 6.1%.
