Blue Jays Minor League Musings: Dub Gleed is an extra-base hit machine, JoJo Parker hits a nuke

It was a busy weekend for the Toronto Blue Jays.
With the trade deadline right around the corner, the Blue Jays added some fresh faces in the farm system, acquiring Ty Southisene and Brett Bateman from the Chicago Cubs for Kevin Gausman. They also traded away three prospects, Arjun Nimmala, Eddie Micheletti Jr., and Angel Rivero for José Soriano.
Still, there were some noticeable performances in the farm this past weekend, including Dub Gleed. Acquired for the recently DFA’d Leo Jiménez back in March, Gleed has broken out in a big way this season.
After hitting just two home runs in 2025, he’s now hit 14 in 346 plate appearances this season, splitting his time between High-A and Double-A. This weekend saw him hit a home run in each of the games in the New Hampshire Fisher Cats’ doubleheader on Friday, as well as a double in both Saturday and Sunday’s game.
It took him a while to get going in Double-A, but the 23-year-old corner infielder is now batting .279/.382/.500 with six home runs, seven doubles, and a triple in his 144 plate appearances at the level.
The Fisher Cats have played four games since Friday, splitting the doubleheader and splitting the two games on Saturday and Sunday. Gage Stanifer struggled in their 9-8 loss on Friday, giving up seven earned runs over three and one-third innings. Aaron Parker and Cade Doughty also hit home runs in this game, while Micheletti Jr. hit his fourth triple of the year.
They won 3-2 to split the doubleheader, with Carter Cunningham and J.R. Freethy each hitting a home run, the latter’s first at the level. Micheletti Jr. hit his 20th double, and Gleed hit a double for good measure. Austin Cates struck out 10 over five and two-thirds innings, giving up two earned runs.
Danny Thompson Jr. was the stand out performer from the Fisher Cats’ 4-2 loss on Saturday, giving up one earned run over six innings, all while striking out seven. Nimmala and Cunningham each hit a double.
Then on Sunday, a 6-0 victory, Victor Arias hit his eighth home run at the level, driving in four of the six runs. Canadian Mathieu Vallee had a strong game, hitting his first Double-A triple in a three-hit game. Jackson Wentworth pitched six shutout innings, and T.J. Brock had a much better outing.
Friday also saw the Single-A Dunedin Blue Jays pick up a 5-0 victory. Jake Bennett hit his first career extra-base hit, a double. Carson Messina pitched four and two-thirds scoreless innings with seven strikeouts, his best Single-A start.
The Triple-A Buffalo Bisons game on Friday was rather unnoteworthy, but the High-A Vancouver Canadians fell 7-5 in extra innings. Tucker Toman’s 11th long-ball of the season came with one out remaining with the C’s down by one, forcing extras. Alexis Hernandez hit his 13th home run of the season as well. 
Gable Mitchell notched his first professional extra-base hit, a double, while Jaxson West also hit a double. Jake Casey hit a triple. On the mound, Landon Maroudis pitched four scoreless innings before surrendering three earned runs in the fifth and final inning he pitched. Still, he’s been turning his season around lately.
On Saturday, the Bisons fell 4-1, with the only noteworthy performance belonging to Simeon Woods Richardson. The right-handed pitcher pitched five and one-third scoreless innings with seven strikeouts. Javen Coleman was tagged with the loss and blown save, giving up four earned runs in the bottom of the eighth.
The C’s fell 9-1, but Reece Fields made his professional debut and pitched five scoreless innings, walking three and striking out five. Jean Joseph hit his first career High-A double as well.
JoJo Parker should be joining the C’s soon enough, and he hit a nuke on Saturday. His 12th home run of the season came off the bat at 114.2 mph and travelled a distance of 446 feet. He’s just far too good for Single-A. Ryan Franden hit his first professional extra-base hit, a double, and Dax Dathe struck out the side in order.
Both Dominican Summer League teams won on Saturday. The DSL Blue Jays Blue won 4-3, while the DSL Blue Jays Red won 13-2. In the latter game, Jose Gori hit his first career home run. Darwin Nuñez also had a four hit game that included his sixth double of the season.
The Bisons concluded their series against the Lehigh Valley IronPigs with an 8-5 win on Sunday. Daz Cameron went 2-4 with four RBIs, hitting a double and his second home run since joining the team. C.J. Stubbs also hit a home run, while Sean Keys, Josh Rivera, and Josh Kasevich hit doubles.
Lastly, the C’s defeated Spokane 14-0 on Sunday. Left-handed pitching prospect Johnny King had another good start, throwing five scoreless innings with three walks and seven strikeouts. 
In the batters’ box, Ryan Sprock, Hernandez, and Casey all hit a home run and a double. Sprock had a three-hit game, as he managed to hit two doubles. Toman had the team’s other double in his lone at-bat, as Spokane walked him four times.
By the 6:00 PM ET trade deadline, expect the Blue Jays’ farm system to have a few fresh faces.
