The Toronto Blue Jays made a roster move following their 7-0 victory over the Seattle Mariners.
On Sunday night, the Blue Jays announced they optioned CJ Van Eyk to Triple-A Buffalo.
Van Eyk was recalled on Friday before the series opener against the Mariners and worked a scoreless ninth inning, throwing 13 pitches during the 8-1 win.
Through four games with the Blue Jays this season, Van Eyk is 0-1 with a 4.05 ERA and a 1.95 WHIP. The right-hander has struck out one batter across 6.2 innings pitched and has allowed 11 hits and one walk.
During his time with the Bisons this season, Van Eyk has pitched in 21 games (15 starts) and is 6-3 with a 3.79 ERA and a 1.34 WHIP. Van Eyk has struck out 68 batters across his 95 innings and has been hit at a .259 clip.
The 27-year-old made his MLB debut on July 17 and worked two scoreless innings during a 12-4 loss against the Chicago White Sox. As an arm that can provide multiple innings, Van Eyk could see another shot in the Blue Jays’ bullpen if they become overworked throughout September.
